GE-186-363-6992-01 TAT186-363-6992-01This colorful 2 bedroom 2 bath home is Hosted from the front cottage. Close to all the fun Puna has to offer. The quiet setting has privacy with room for family & friends. Let the sound of the waves rock you to sleep. Maybe even hear the whales. Gardenias fill the garden with a wonderful aroma. Colorful tropical plants sway in the breeze, creating a delightful view from the fully screened lanai. The house is set up to sleep two couples with new queen size beds that connect by the lanai. Both rooms exactly the same except color schemes. All linens are new and are the appropriate weight for the climate for a comfortable stay. The house is super cute in a simple way .The full kitchen allows for home cooked meals.
Take your coffee and morning walk to the cliffs or Kahakai Park with lots of spots for fishing or watching the waves break.
Borrow the snorkel gear and visit Kapoho for the best snorkeling on the island.
Enjoy the restaurants in Pahoa. We had the best meals at Nings and Kaleos. Truly delicious. There really is something for every taste and budget. THE FARMERS MARKETS are amazing. Wednesdays is Hilo or Uncle Roberts in Kalapana. Saturday Hilo. Sunday Maku'u on the road to Hilo. Plus Keauu has one open everyday! There is so much to enjoy you'll have to come back many times to discover it all!...

Sue was a fabulous and communicative host. Perfect location to spend time on the eastern side of the island good midpoint between Volcanoes National Park and Hilo. The screened lanai which we called ‘The Jungle Room’ was a highlight, big comfortable sitting area which is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and a good book while listening to early morning or evening rainstorms and birds. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood where Nene’s roam free this is a great home based to go explore the island and come home to relax.

The owner is very nice. She gave us mosquito coils and mosquito repellent. We like the decoration style of the house. The bed is very comfortable. We will come back again.

Our family of 6 stayed here for a few nights to explore this side of the island. Perfect accomodations. Enough room for us to spread out and not bump into each other.

Very nice. Definately a Sweet Retreat in jungle setting. Lanai screened in. Sweet smell of gardenias fresh air. Visited by chicken everyday. Owner very close and wonderful. House set up gave us all privacy. Were in friendly neighborhood. We toured the island and relaxed at night at the sweet retreat. Great resturants in Pahoa and Hilo. Kitchen set for us to make our own meals. Could hear the near by waves. Met some neighbors. Was very positve stay. We stayed 2 weeks. Great for short stay or long. Our landlady so nice made us feel very welcome.

Rustic cottage, tropical setting. Just under an hour to volcano national park and close to restaurants in Pahoa. Overall very nice stay, but may want to close the windows at night and run the fan or the roosters will wake you very early. Also the lock box did not work so never had a key to lock/unlock property.

This little cottage, named Sweet Retreat by the owner, was a charming home base for our time on the Big Island. We enjoyed everything about the location. We could hear the waves crashing on the shore from the lovely screened porch. We could walk to the beach in a few minutes time and watch for whales. We could drive in to the village for a delicious meal at one of several good restaurants in a short time. And we were able to travel to Vocano National Park, black and green sand beaches and Southpoint all from Sweet Retreat.

We were only on this side of the island for one day, but wish we had more time. The house was clean and the open air kept the house feeling fresh. There was snorkel gear, camp chairs, and many other items that could come in handy for an extended stay. We enjoyed sleeping out on the lanai with the sound of the waves crashing and frogs croaking.

We have a very comfortable stay. The beds were very comfortable and the living area was generous and private with a real rainforest feel. The kitchen was very well supplied including very good coffee. There were roosters crowing in the middle of the night, but we were well prepared with earplugs since we had experienced coqui frogs on this side of the island in the past, but they weren’t an issue here. Overall, it was a great place to stay.

I wish I had more days. Loved the decor. Loved the location. Walking distance to the shore. Easy access to the volcano. Would love to return and stay a week. Funny bit of trivia. A friend from home is building his retirement home in that neighborhood so we had a lot of inside tips
