Hono Kai Complex:
The 3-story Hono Kai complex has direct access to over six miles of white sandy beach just steps from the manicured resort grounds perfect for swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, sunbathing, and surfing at times. In a brief 13 min walk (0.7 mi) via Hauoli St, you can enjoy the Maalaea Harbor, the Maalaea Harbor shops, Maui’s Ocean Center Aquarium, the Maui Golf and Sports Park, and much more.
The oceanfront pool is located just a wall away from the glistening waters of the Hawaiian ocean. Enjoy watching turtles and sealife playing in the waves, including whales, depending on the season (December- mid-April) while sitting or swimming at the pool or grilling at the community BBQ station. There are several lounge chairs and a public wash-off station just outside the pool for use at your convenience before residing back in your Maui hale (home). Each floor is fitted with laundry facilities offering 2 quarter-operated washers and 2 dryers. Please NOTE there is NO elevator access. The trash and recycling bins are located in a walled area in the northwest corner of the parking lot (roadside).

While this unit doesn’t have a great view, just a few steps to the ocean side of the property gave us a great spot to enjoy the sun, surf and whales. This property is at one end of a very long beach for beach walks. There are shops and restaurants nearby. The condo was well equipped, clean and cozy. Great for a couple.

The unit was clean, comfortable and adequately equipped. We appreciated having beach towels and chairs for our use. The location was walking distance to the harbor, aquarium, shops and eateries, and a short drive to groceries. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

I loved my stay at this location. I loved how close the beach was, I loved how comfortable the room was as well as the furniture. As my vacation came to an end, I felt so relaxed. I would choose again and recommend this location.

We had a wonderful time at Hono Kai condo in Maalaea. Situated on the beach and close to the bird sanctuary made our holiday perfect. This location is not busy but close to the main areas like Kihei Lahaina. The ocean center is in walking distance and several very good restaurants (tantes seafood was a favourite)
The beach is unspoiled which is unlike other parts of Maui. We enjoyed being on ground level easy access to pool and ocean. Morning coffee on the lanai with birds singing was so peaceful! Condo was fully equipped and perfect for two of us. Only thing missing was a tea kettle. We loved the beautiful courtyard garden too!

Not as beautiful as the pictures suggest. Everything in the room is outdated. Room looks and feels old. Not the cleanest. Walls are stained. Loud noises heard often. Parking lot is so small and narrow. Cars are literally next to eachother. Greatest thing about this place are the beach accessories they provide. Would not stay here again. No direct beach access but a short walk does lead you to a nice beach. Despite some sketchy long term beach residents ghere, the beach was very clean and quiet. Nice time to read there instead of the room.

This place was clean on our arrival and worked well for my wife and I. It would not work well for more than about 2 people though just based on space availability.
If you’re looking to get around Maui from here, it’s well connected to the highways but not near any major sights other than the Aquarium. It is a bit centrally located and on the harbor so it was fairly pretty.

Great for 2 adults! Okay for additional kids but you have to close off the bedroom sliding doors. Really nice semi-private beach steps away with grills, chairs, tables right out back.

Condo A12 is on the ground floor with a large patio that backs to the parking lot. The condo has been nicely updated. Property management made check in and out very smooth. The complex is older, but right on the water with a small pool.
