We had an absolutely perfect stay at Mele Kai! Such a spacious lovely home with gorgeous views. Quick response from the staff for any questions and a beautiful walking path very close by. One thing to be aware of if traveling with kids, the lower bedrooms are not overly sound proof with the slatted doors but we made it work! Would absolutely stay again.

The house is in a great location and is beautifully kept. There are several beach chairs, beach towels, and beach umbrella for your use. I have zero complaints and the rental company is very accommodating.

Enjoyed our stay Mele Kai for a hiking trip. House is in a beautiful neighborhood a block from ocean on hill so have views of the ocean. Layout has 2 BR’s and laundry on 1st floor and master BR, living room, kitchen, sun room, 2 bath rooms on 2nd floor with porches on both floors and BBQ grill. 1st floor has garage with beach stuff to use. Parking is a challenge if more than one car due to steep short driveway. Poipu beach is a short drive away where nightly Green sea turtles arrive and Monk seals can be seen. Waimea canyon and Na Pali coast are a must see. Communications with host excellent. House was perfect for our visit.

The house is neat, clean and spacious. Three bedrooms and a small “meditation” room. Every bedroom has its own balcony. Bathrooms are spacious.
Close to Poipu beach and to the Shipwreck beach/trail. Plenty walkable areas. Driving distances to explore the island from the house are on the shorter side.
Check out time is too early from the comfort level.

For some people, this would have been a wonderful place to stay. It was clean, management was very responsive to my questions, the location was beautiful and allowed us to see the sun rise and set from the small balconies in either side of the bedroom. If only we weren’t surrounded by creepy posters...The house is decorated with old B movie posters from films shot on the island in the middle of last century. The bedroom is dominated by posters from the 1951 film “Bird of Paradise.” It includes White actors portraying native Hawaiians, and evil native witch doctor, a chief who wants to sacrifice his daughter to the volcano, and a White Savior who masters “native” rites of passage and saves the chief’s daughter. The other films also do what films of that time did, exoticize and sexualize native peoples and cultures, use White actors in native roles, and glorify White culture at the expense of Hawaiian culture. It was creepy and I seriously considered turning all of the posters to face the walls. So, if these things do not bother you, this is a great place. If they would bother you, steer clear of this home.
