Kealia Landing sits on a bluff overlooking wide, sandy Kealia Beach with panoramic, unforgettable views of Kauai's east coast extending ten miles to the Hoary Head Mountain range. From this wonderful cul-de-sac in an historic mill community, recreational possibilities abound!
Right below the house stroll through secluded beaches for miles on Kauai’s paved Ke Ala Hele Makalae pedestrian/bike path, named by USA Today as the 5th best recreational trail in the country. Two miles to the right leads you right into Old Kapaa Town, according to Forbes magazine one of the 15 Prettiest Towns in America.
Take this opportunity to get into a private home providing your family indoor space to move around while enjoying the outdoor lanais and lawn areas as well. Cook your own meals or enjoy takeout from nearby restaurants while supporting local businesses.
Reminiscent of designs by architect Richard Neutra, the house is a modernist, architectural delight. Floor-to-ceiling windows, ten-foot-high Honduras mahogany ceilings and warm stained concrete floors are just a few of the features of this modern, elegant and very private home.
Perfectly designed and furnished for three couples; enjoy viewing entertainment from your Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming accounts through the 80-inch flat screen TV. The home office has great views of the Pacific and a well-supplied Hawaiiana library housing many books on Kauai and the history of Kauai.
Sit on the lawn and enjoy spectacular breaches of seasonal whales. According to The Garden Island newspaper, in a Kauai yearly whale count the highest average number of whales in a 15-minute period were sighted just across Kealia Bay below the house.
In the evening delight in the refreshing trade winds as myriad seabirds, including Frigates, Boobies and even Albatrosses make their way past as they return to the Kilauea Lighthouse Bird Sanctuary. Enjoy spectacular sun and moon rises over the ocean as well as great views of surrounding landmarks Sleeping Giant Mountain, Kong Mountain and in clear weather the waterfalls of Mt. Waialeale, right from your door.
One wall of the first level great room is nearly all glass with breath taking views of the ocean. The second floor is a spacious master suite with platform bed and roomy private lanai overlooking the cobalt blue sea. On the first floor step out to the ocean side lanai with a built-in Honduras mahogany and granite topped picnic table with adjacent gas barbecue. Enjoy the view while dining on grilled island seafood with fresh local ingredients as well as personal favorites.
Easy and equal access to all sides of the island from this wonderful location – plus Kapaa is right next door with a wide selection of restaurants, activities, markets and shops. Other activities nearby include surfing, boogie boarding, kite surfing, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, hiking, bicycling, golf, shopping and tennis.

Reviewer Comments:
Views of ocean are fantastic and short drive down to beach below. Don't even think about navigating down hillside. House was great but you are staying here for the end to end panorama views of the ocean. Only downside is for whatever reason the extra parking spot outside that is for those staying there is/was used by transients with cars parking there. Reported that to rental. Police had to come twice with one a foot pursuit down the hill. Not great scenery there for our kids and is the big reason why you definitely can't leave anything unlocked when not there. Also guest toilet broke at the end of stay.

This was the second time that we stayed at the Kealia Landing house; the first time was 9 years ago. It was a vacation with our two grown children and their partners. We enjoyed the house the first time around, so booked it again, primarily based on its terrific location. The house was a bit worn this time, and could use a few upgrades. There were still no hooks to hang towels in the 2 downstairs bathrooms (my complaint from 9 years ago!!!). Unfortunately, there was also an issue with no hot water in the master shower, although there was hot water everywhere else in the house, including the master bath. The management company immediately came to assess the situation, determined what the issue was, which could not be addressed during our stay, but a suitable agreement was made with the owner. Issues with any house can occur, so I do not hold this against the property. Also, as stated by other reviewers, the downstairs bedrooms can get stuffy when the windows are closed, although there are fans which helped. The master bedroom was great, with the doors open all night and the sound of the ocean. The location of the house was ideal, with reasonable driving times to destinations in either direction. There was a walking/biking path which stretched both north and south from the house. This time around, we couldn't find the iffy and steep path down to the beach, but it was no problem walking or driving to the beach. The house had beach chairs and beach towels, and most other items needed for our stay. We didn't do much cooking, choosing to eat out....but there were many dining options just a few minutes drive away. The house wasn't perfect, but we still really enjoyed our time there.

This was our first time to Kaua'i and this property did not disappoint! Just the two of us for our 25th wedding anniversary. We spent hours just relaxing and watching the waves roll in and out. The view was breathtaking and even though there are neighbors it is a very private yard. Loved listening to the waves lull us to sleep at night. Incredible food nearby at Tonys Catch , Kenji Burger and Oasis on the Beach. Nothing is too far so we had tons of fun and adventures while we were there. Thank you for sharing this piece of heaven with us!

Beautiful location and great house! The house was as advertised, was clean, comfortable and had great extras like beach chairs, boogie boards, a small cooler and more. The location was very central and the nearby walking path was perfect for a great run or walk with a perfect view of whales and dolphins in the morning! We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house to others!

Kealia Landing House was perfect for our group of six. Spectacular views from the house, we saw whales almost daily from the back patio. Ideal location midway between north and south side of the island meant we were never more than an hour from our sight seeing, hiking destinations.

Magnificent! When I first saw this listing, I thought it had to be too good to be true. Since the listing and reviews were so detailed and highly rated we took our chances and are so glad we did! The views are unbeatable! We wanted to explore both the south and north shores so staying on the east side was very convenient. We felt the Kapa'a and Kealia area had a laid back, local vibe. The house is stocked with great kitchen amenities and utensils, beach gear (chairs, towels, some sand toys, etc.) tons of books, cleaning supplies if needed. We prepared a lot of meals in the kitchen and on the grill. Everything worked well and the views from the patio table while you dine are better than most restaurants. We were a little nervous about some information we received about break ins in the area prior to our arrival, but we never had any problems. We never left a downstairs sliding door open unless we were occupying the room. There were pvc pipes to wedge into the sliding doors to secure them when closed. We armed the alarm whenever we left the house. There are some windows in the bathrooms that are higher up that could be cracked open at night to allow air circulation along with ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Bedroom doors also had locks on them. We really felt very safe throughout our visit. The beach itself is gorgeous, but very strong waves this time of year (Jan/Feb). The wave breaker helped some. The adults loved playing in the waves! We preferred some other beaches with our toddler aged kiddo.
Just a few minor draws backs we encountered - As other reviews have stated, the trail down to the beach is very steep and slippery when wet. We only made the trek once. Mostly we drove down to the beach and paved trail. There was always plenty of parking at Kealia beach.
Another drawback of this location were the people camping on the beach at night. Because of this I was actually glad the trail to the house was somewhat hidden and steep. A few times they set off fireworks which would have been cool except for a sleeping little one. People sleeping in the upstairs bedroom said they could hear loud music at times.
One last thing to note is the 5:00 pm check in time. While this is clearly stated in the online listing, it was difficult with the timing of our flights to wait this long for check in. With a tired toddler our first hours in Kauai were rough.
Overall we loved our stay and cherish the memories made at Kealia Landing House! Maholo!!!

Wonderful sunsets and sunrises every day. Yes, you get both from this location! Well appointed home has everything you need. Well maintained and clean. Consider that there is no AC and that stairs are quite steep.

Beautiful home and stunning views from lanai. Home does not have central air but cools down beautifully if you open it up. Trail to beach is steep but manageable if you don't haul alot of gear down. Loved having beach towels, umbrella, chairs and even a cooler available. We had a fantastic time !

Beautifully laid out house, perfect for a family or group of friends, each with their own private suite. Includes beach gear - chairs, towels, umbrella, toys etc. Stunning views for days - wake up to sunrise and sounds of the rolling waves + chickens of course. Great central location for access North and South shore beaches + historic Kapa’a town. Cleaned to perfection!
