“We enjoyed our stay at the Maui Sands. It is a quieter, smaller complex. Our unit was on the end nearest the pool and had a lot of palms growing around the balcony. That helped to make it feel private. The condo has two beach chairs, a hair dryer, and a blender which we used. We were able to keep the condo cool using the windows and ceiling fans. We didn't use the air conditioning. The main room is large and has a day bed. The small bedroom is warmer (on the south side of the building). In all, we enjoyed our stay and had a great experience. Chase N Rainbows was easy to work with and even accommodated a last minute change.”

Additional Details from the Resident Manager and AOAO dated 1/6/19 and updated 3/19/19:
Seawall repair work will begin on the south side (building 5) - of the property (Oceanside).
We just received a notice that the seawall repair work will be starting on April 15, 2019. It is supposed to take about 8 months.
If all goes well, the contractor will be working Mondays through Fridays during the work day. Because the tides and weather are iffy, there will most likely be days that they are not working.
•Construction will start at the south end of building 5.
•Guests WILL have access to grills (Except Maui Seaside #717).
•There is a temporary observation deck which you will have access to, and stairs on the north side of building 4 which may require a bit of a walk around the construction staging area.
•There WILL be ocean access during working hours.

Our rental appeared to be very clean other than the carpet. A few dead bugs made me wonder how clean it the last good vacuuming was done.There was no parking pass in our rental as promised, we made our own and put in our car as well as getting the information of our car to the managers in box. We got a parking warning which was frustrating given we received no parking pass as promised. The AC did not work at all, with everything closed up, we gave up, and opened the shutters for air flow, it worked out well... The ceiling fans in the kitchen and living room worked well. There were a couple of moveable fans that were quite dusty/dirty. We did not feel comfortable using. Overall, it met our expectations and was a good place to stay given the price was very reasonable. The pool and amenities were nice and well kept.I would recommend updating the snorkel gear, and you may consider adding in some beach chairs and umbrellas as some of the other units had these and it would be a nice touch to add. We enjoyed our stay. The Maui Sands was in a nice location for all the beach activities. We would consider staying here again.

We stayed in the property for less than one hour and were forced to find accomodations elsewhere in the middle of the night after realizing that the kitchen and part of the living room area were infested in cockroaches. Tried to reach the afterhours line, but after being asked why we called, we never received further responses. While staying at an outdated unit was dealable with, the condition of the unit was unsanitary.

Our recent stay at a Chase’n Rainbows property was unimpressive. We’ve stayed at Chase’n Rainbows properties several times in the past and always had a good experience. This condo, however, was questionable from the start.- The lock to the front and back doors need replacement. The front lock barely works at all, was very difficult to lock from either the inside or outside and provided no actual security. The back door cylinder lock was unusable, limiting us to the sliding door latch. - The dining chair seats were unusable. Only one had a plywood support under the cushion, which meant the rest of the seats were four-legged sinkholes.- The air conditioner was tucked behind the large, filthy, ridiculously wired “entertainment center” – which meant none of the air from this 1980-vintage unit made it out of the corner. I moved the “entertainment center” and jerry-rigged a fan to give the air a fighting chance of making it anywhere in the condo (getting cool air to the bedroom was a lost cause).- There was no parking form in our room as promised in our welcome email, and we received a “warning” for not having one on our windshield. I called the office and was told one would be delivered to us right away. Four hours later I called back and was told it would probably not be delivered that day, but maybe the next? I hand-wrote a note and placed it on my windshield. - The room was dirty. Under normal circumstances, I would have ignored the dirty dishes, the ants, and the fact that the coffee machine had not been emptied of coffee grounds from the last resident. But we paid a $200 cleaning fee. That means with a four-day stay, Chase’n Rainbows is making cleaning fee revenue around $1,400 a month. I expect something a little more sanitary than dirty dishes and an unemptied coffee machine. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND OF THE CLEANING FEE.All around, this was the least i
