If you dream of sleeping on a tropical beach, a world apart from your everyday life, you will love staying here. Built before setbacks from the water were required, our condo is literally right on the ocean, about 15 feet. We have fondly named it "Turtle Haven" because we see them every day from the lanai.
Staying with us will not displace any residents impacted by the Lahaina fires. But you will be helping to provide income for our housekeepers, maintenance people and property managers.
Our two bedroom, one bath, second floor, oceanfront unit is the ideal vacation home to share with your family and friends. As soon as you walk in the door, you'll feel as if you've stepped into another place and time. It has everything you need for a truly comfortable stay:
- Bedroom #1 - Queen bed with plenty of storage
- Bedroom #2 - Two twin beds ( can be converted to King) with plenty of storage
- Living Room - Daybed / twin size
- Air Conditioning - split AC system with AC units in each bedroom and in the living area
- Keypad door lock (no keys or cards to carry)
- Free WiFi, 40" Flat Screen "smart" TV and Blu-ray DVD player
- Telephone with free long distance to USA and Canada
- Fully equipped and newly remodeled kitchen
- Beach gear ( usually left by previous guest, no guarantees!) We do recommend renting snorkel gear for best hygiene and fit. There are a few in walking distance.
- Portable PakNPlay with extra bedding.

- Resident green sea turtles that you can watch from the lanai (we call the big guy"Ted")
- 2nd Floor in a 2 story building, stair access only (no elevator)
From our private lanai, you have an unobstructed ocean view of neighboring islands of Lanai and Molokai, miles of open water, spectacular sunsets, sail boats, soft breezes, turtles, dolphins and ocean waves. This property is ideally situated to view a new spectacular sunset every night!
And, whales! If you visit between mid-November to mid-April, you will see lots and lots of humpback whales!!
OUR UNIT:
Experience "Old Hawaiian" charm at Maui Sands. The spacious living and dining area open onto a large lanai to provide space to stretch out, read, relax, watch the ocean or play games in the evening. The fully furnished kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, stove and refrigerator/freezer (equipped with an ice maker!). You'll have plenty of seating for meals at the dining room table, island counter and at the table on the lanai . We have tried to keep a vintage flavor, but for the more technically inclined, the unit is completed with WiFi, a flat screen TV, Blu-ray/DVD player, and a keypad door lock (no keys to carry around).
The unit can sleep up to five (5) guests on beds. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the guestroom has two twin beds and there is a twin size daybed in the living room to sleep five comfortably. There is a PakNPlay available as well. We can also provide a high chair with advance notice.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is very convenient to Ka’anapali and all of the beaches on the west part of the island. We watched whales from the balcony each morning and woke up to the sounds of waves crashing. The kitchen was stocked with anything we needed and facilities were well maintained.

The view really is amazing and the water easily accessible in the morning during low-tide (especially fun for kids). The rental had all the amenities you need and lots of space so that a family of five never felt cramped. Once ceiling fan was not operational but there were several floor models to use - and the ocean breeze allowed us never to turn on the AC unit. Parking is tight so do note if you are driving a large vehicle (it is doable - just requires more time backing in). Overall, a really nice, relaxing stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here and the location was great. Condo is well appointed and the view is fabulous. Although there is no usable beach, the stairs down to the water made the ocean very accessible. You have to step over a portion of a reef to be able to swim which can be very tricky at times., and this would not be possible for those guests with mobility issues. I enjoyed exploring the reefs and saw various species of fish and sea creatures. One day an endangered monk seal even swam past the complex. Maui during whale watching season is a must! We could even see whales breaching from the unit. There are parts of the condo that can use some updating and the bedrooms did get warm since the only A/C unit was in the family room. There are ceiling fans and several floor fans available to help keep things cool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing experience! The owner was so kind and responsive, and left a very thorough welcome packet. The property was spacious, clean, and comfortable! We sat on the balcony and watched whales, and walked down to the beach only feet away where you could snorkel. The whole condo was fully stocked and we wanted for nothing—there was even snorkel equipment! We stayed at a resort for our last half of the trip and honestly, we would have stayed at Turtle Haven the whole time. It was an amazing stay and this property is very well maintained and comfortable! 5 stars all around.

For those who are looking for a full immersion into Maui’s ocean from your VRBO, this is it.
The lanai has massive sliding doors that make you feel like your walking out onto the water (they are surprisingly sound proof when they’re closed) and you hear the waves like you’re laying on the beach.
We watched the whales in the morning as the sun would start to touch the islands of Lanai and Molokai. We saw at least a dozen whale breaches while having breakfast and there were always turtles enjoying the waves right in front/below us.
It’s such a convenient distance from stores and a short drive to Lahaina. It’s a great location on the island especially if you want to explore the north road.
The property was clean when we arrived and communication with the property management was fantastic.
We absolutely loved our stay and cannot wait to come back!

Everything was as advertised. The condo itself was great, clean, well stocked with items and very well organized. The condo complex was tidy and quiet and it was close to beaches and amenities. Hostess was quite helpful with things and would I would rent from her again without hesitation.

My family and I had a great stay! The condo felt like home and it was equipped with everything you need for a memorable vacation. The condo is close to stores, farmers market, restaurants and food trucks! The view was breathtaking! Perfect place to watch the whales breach and the sea turtles play! We also had a great time swimming and snorkeling right outside the condo! Would recommend this place for sure!!

What a view! The grounds are beautiful and the black-bottomed pool was warm and clean. Turtles are swimming in the water right outside the building. Everything was clean and tidy in the unit. Great restaurants are in walking distance and easy to get take-out from. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
