We had a wonderful visit to the Big Island and Jeni’s home was a delight. Everything was well maintained and the house and grounds are beautiful. The little town of Captain Cook was a quick trip for supplies, and the proximity to terrific snorkeling was a daily joy.
We loved picking avocados, starfruit and lemons and cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The sunsets are amazing from the house!
Jeni was a responsive and gracious host. Our family of nine appreciated the opportunity to share her wonderful home.

had a very enjoyable 2 week stay with extended family, including 3 toddlers. Jeni was always available to assist with issues, questions - not that many arose. The property is located welcomingly in the hills to provide just enough buffer to be away from the hustle-bustle, but close enough to a grocery store and other essentials to make the stay very enjoyable. The house was also stocked with every imaginable amenity, including a pack-n-play for our youngest, Would definitely stay again. Mahalo!!!

The house was great and loved the open sliding doors. Anything you may need is there. It is secluded and nightly climate is cool and soothing. The house is spread out and beautiful to sit by the pool to visit with family or watch children swim. Would recommend all the way. Very close grocery stores.

This is simply an amazing property tucked into a great corner of the Big Island. It gives the right amount of privacy while maintaining easy access to the area (which has some of the friendliest people).

This home provided all the amenities we had been told to expect There were coolers and beach equipment, a great pool. tiki lights, and plenty of room. The kitchen was fully equipped and plenty of parking space. The grounds are very nice with avocadoes, papaya and palms. The location is within fifteen minutes of three beaches and easy to get to Highway 11 which circles the island. The driveway to the house is narrow but paved and the directions to access the property are excellent. The home easily accommodates a large family, couples and singles. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the owner is very easy to work with.

My wife and I stayed here with our 3 sons and their families. We had just as much fun and relaxation here at the house as we did anywhere on the island. We spent 2 days at the house without leaving, just swimming, picking lemons to make fresh squeezed lemonade, picking avacados and just laying in the sun. The pool and hot tub were great. There were no mosquitoes or any other unwelcomed bugs to bother us. I will admit that the roosters crowing at 4:00AM woke us up earlier then we wanted to get up, but our 3 year old grand daughter sure loved watching the chickens and the baby chicks.
The grounds were well kept up and the house was very clean with lots of room for 10 people.
If we ever come back to the big island with a group of friends or family we would definitely stay here again without any hesitation.

Our group of 11 stayed at Pu’u Mahana during the Feb break 2018. Jeni was great to deal with from when we booked in and right through our stay. She had lots of tips and information for us in her welcome package, and was very easy to get in touch with if we had any questions while were there. The weather on the Big Island was mostly rainy during our stay and we did a lot of touring around the island. The hot tub and pool were great at the end of the day. There were a few technical issues with the wifi and couple of other minor maintenance issues. Jeni had them dealt with as soon as she could. The cat that came to visit quickly made friends. Our girls named her Mary Margaret for the week. The lemon tree was full of ripe lemons and the avocados also were in season. Nice that we could make use of them while we were there. Lots of room, the bedrooms are suites on their own. All of us could gather in the kitchen for coffee/breakfast in the morning and not be crowded. The rental vehicle had GPS and it took us to the address, it was good that we got there in the daylight because the property is back up the mountain and down a quiet country trail. It would have been tricky to find in the dark but again, all the directions were in the welcome package. I would recommend Pu’u Mahana to other families that are looking to stay near the Kona side of the Big Island.
