Stately and serene, THE HOME OF THE HULA MOON is one of the most beautiful contemporary oceanfront properties in PUAKO. Each bedroom has a perfect ocean view. Located near the end of the road, you will enjoy year-round sunsets and privacy.
Puako has the best beach weather on the Big Island. Stunning sunsets, views of Maui, and an infinity lawn to the ocean. Plus a large courtyard pool. There is lots of room for a large family and friends at this 5000/7000 sq. foot home on the beach.
We do not have Air Conditioning, but the large ceiling fans, and ocean breezes keep it very pleasant.
We don't allow weddings, events, receptions or any type of workshops at our home so please don't ask to be the exception to this rule, because we just won't rent to you.
The home has a large infinity lawn and there is no barrier between the house and the ocean, therefore, please note the layout of the property and think about the people in your group, prior to booking this vacation rental.
All vacation rentals must have a STVR permit from the County of Hawaii in order to be a rental. We were among the first to receive ours, so we are in full compliance. STVR-19-349600, NUCR-21-0441.

As you enter through the gates, lush tropical plantings enhance the large courtyard swimming pool and generous lanai. The pool is usually between 79 and 88 degrees depending on the season. The pool is less than 4 feet deep. Children who are not 100% potty trained must wear swim diapers in the pool. Consider the next guests as well as yourself.
THE HOME OF THE HULA MOON is designed so that every room has a magnificent view of the ocean, you will love the open and airy feeling of this large large contemporary home.
HULA MOON offers gracious living in a relaxed atmosphere. Including the covered lanais, you have almost 7000 square feet of indoor/outdoor living space. The two-story Great Room is very inviting with wonderful views of the ocean. The beautiful oceanside lanai has a dining table for 8 to 10. The lanai also has large chairs for relaxing and a punee for lounging. There is a built-in bar. We have a small sandy beach just to the left of our home, which great for playing with the kids. People often snorkel in the tide pools in front of the house at high tide.
You will enjoy watching the humpback whales in season, spinner dolphins and green sea turtles from the house. The Puako reef offers some of the best snorkeling and walk-in scuba diving on the Big Island. We are located between beach access points so you will have very few people walking by the home along the beach.
We have four large bedrooms with maximum privacy. The Kona and Kohala suites are on the main floor and both have stunning ocean views and doors that open onto the lanai. Each suite has been beautifully appointed with new King mattresses and new linens. Both have large bathrooms with a separate dressing area and a large open air but enclosed shower filled with tropical plants.

Well appointed kitchen, bathrooms, outdoor living spaces and extras (coolers, beach bags, beach chairs, beach towels) that made the vacation extra relaxing. The home comfortably suited our family of 10 with beds for 4 children and 3 large bedrooms, walk in closets, outdoor rain showers for 3 couples. The home is expertly decorated and furnished with quality seating and conversation areas. A truly beautiful home.

Hula Moon is a wonderful house for a family of 10! The location, close to the ocean with a beautiful large lawn and deck, is perfect! There is exceptional art work all around the house. Everything is quality -- high end kitchen (+ 3 refrigerators!) with plentiful supplies -- sitting areas everywhere and a wrap around upstairs deck. All the rooms have a direct view of the ocean and sunsets.

This is our second time vacationing at the Hula Moon and as soon as we returned home we booked it again for next year. The home is absolutely gorgeous with incredible views. The kitchen is a chef’s dream with everything you could possibly need to cook with. Our favorite pastime was relaxing on the beautiful lanai. Thank you Gail and Nikki for another wonderful vacation!

We had a great stay with nine of us! Plenty of room! The home has everything you need to cook with! The beach is great early in the morning to walk out and see sea turtles! (The beach isn’t friendly for swimming or playing in the sand since it’s lava rock, Which the listing does say). There’s a really nice beach five minutes away that’s secluded and beautiful! The sunsets and sunrise are beautiful! This home is made for relaxing! The pool was so fun for the kids! I would recommend this house for anyone that wants a high end home on the beach.
Also, side note no shampoo and conditioner (which the listing says) but I didn’t notice so be sure to stop at the store before arriving!

What an incredible property! We sadly had to leave this beautiful home and return home. Our entire family had so much fun during our stay there. From the ocean views, the beach access, turtles, snorkeling, back porch dinners, swimming, and the list could go on….we all (ages 8 to 65) had an absolute blast!
We will surely miss it and we are already planning our return. It’s left an indelible mark on us and we will not soon forget our fantastic time there.
We love how detailed Gail and Niki were from the very beginning. They made our stay so welcoming and as a family that owns and runs a business we can be very picky about things! Rest assured you will not make a mistake by booking your stay at The Home of the Hula Moon!

This is our family’s second stay at this gorgeous home, and this trip was just as magical as the first. The home itself is impeccable, beautifully decorated, comfortable and stocked with everything you could need. The location is one of a kind. We had perfect weather and were lucky enough to see awesome whale activity right from the back patio, all week long. The kids and adults alike spent hours walking along the shoreline and we saw so much beautiful wildlife. The sea turtles abound right outside! Gail and Niki are communicative and organized; amazing hosts of an incredible property. We can’t wait to return!

If I could give this home a 20 star review, I would! From the moment we booked with Gail it was great! She was considerate and helpful with information and emails. We had looked and considered many homes and condos and wow did we make the right choice!! Nikki met us when we arrived and was available anytime we needed information. Everything you might need while staying at this home is pretty much there. The kitchen is stocked with all the equipment you need, there was an abundance of towels and linens, the furniture and bedding was comfortable, I could just go on and on. Pool and sand toys, coolers and sand chairs were there for our use. As for location, it is perfect!! The courtyard pool is wonderful and located at the front of the house, nestled in a beautiful garden oasis. Open expansive back sliding doors onto a huge back lanai with a dining area and an outdoor living room area. There is a very nice back yard for playing games or just enjoying the sunshine and ocean view. Every day we watched whales swimming and splashing and many turtles swimming or sunning on the rocks. Our family had the BEST WEEK EVER in this home and would recommend it to everyone! Thank you Gail and Nikki for everything!!

This is a beautiful property, located right on the water with its own private beach.
Went to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint.
Incredibly comfortable, spacious, has everything we needed.
Kids really enjoyed the pool, fully stocked with toys.
Great supplies in house - used chairs and cooler for a beach day.
Niki, the concierge checked in daily and Gail the host was lovely.
Zero complaints. I highly recommend booking this and we hope to be back.

We have never stayed at a more beautiful home in such a truly spectacular location. Being right on the ocean, watching the sunsets, surrounded by lovely landscaping, the scent of plumeria and jasmine, the sound of the birds and the waves - such a gift! And the house is amazing, beautiful views, huge rooms, great decor and art, comfortable furniture, gorgeous rugs, huge lanai, the coolest showers ever! And everything you could possibly need for barbecuing or cooking or trips to the beach. Gail was so helpful and accommodating and Niki was there for us whenever we had a need or question. 10 stars! Turtle viewing daily. Eels & fish were shy. Whales spotted in the distance (2/7/23 - 2/14/23). Property was exactly as pictured. Perfect stay for 2 couples & 2 single adults. It got a bit humid the last night of our stay; if it had been hotter it would have been quite uncomfortable without air conditioning. It was comfortable & breezy the other days. Rare find with all 4 bedrooms having full ocean views!

This was a wonderful home right on the water. The views are spectacular and the neighborhood is quite and friendly. Great communication with both the property manager and owner. We loved our stay and look forward to returning in the near future. Cannot recommend highly enough.
