E 'Aka 'Aka Mau loosely translates as Laughs a Lot House in Hawaiian. Our two bedroom, two bath home is a perfect getaway for couples and families! Just 400 feet from the beach, and with a beautiful view of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, our house offers two sides of Hawaii, both the ocean and the mountains. Enjoy breakfast in the morning, watching sunrise over Mauna Kea on the wrap-around deck. Take a leisurely stroll to the beach, picnic and beach chairs in hand, and enjoy the warm Pacific waters. Snorkel in Puako Bay or at nearby Waialea Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Swim with sea turtles, colorful fish, and perhaps even a moray eel! Afterward, relax in the screened-in lanai living space, while your meal is grilling out on the BBQ. And end your day by watching the spectacular sunset over the ocean before walking back to your Hawaiian escape.
E 'Aka 'Aka Mau House is uniquely set up to accommodate family and friends, but still afford privacy. The upstairs area is air conditioned for warmer days and has a spacious living room; the cathedral ceiling with two fans gives the space a light, airy feel. This same ambience carries over to the dining area, where koa trimmed windows and wooden floors show off the 'Hawaiian plantation' decor of the room. Open the large sliding glass doors and windows to allow in the breeze! The galley kitchen is well equipped with everything necessary to prepare any kind of meal, from a Thanksgiving turkey to Hawaiian and Asian fare. Granite-topped counters, hard-wood kitchen island, and a large, shelved pantry provide the ideal space to create meals for family and friends. And a Weber Spirit II propane grill is readily accessible on the deck, perfect for grilling that special Hawaiian dish!
Downstairs, a second air conditioned bedroom with sitting area and separate bath lends a 'studio setting' feel to the unit, and is perfect for teenage children or when two couples rent the house. It is accessed through its own separate door. For extra guests and/or small children, there is a fold-out sofa sleeper in the upstairs living room. Finally, the screened in lanai is set up as an additional living space, with a double bed futon for those wanting to sleep outdoors.
High definition TV and wifi are available to our guests. A full-sized washer and dryer are also on the premises for your use.
Our goal is to make E 'Aka 'Aka Mau House your home away from home - a place to relax, enjoy your surroundings, and laugh alot - with family and friends!

Our stay on Puako was exceptional. Glen’s home has everything you need to cook at home while enjoying views of both the Kohala and the ocean. The kitchen was the best stocked VRBO we’ve ever stayed in. The beach equipment they share with guests exceeds expectations. The location is so central to all of the amazing Kohala Coast beaches. Would absolutely encourage anyone to stay here! Mahalo, Glen!

The stay was great, as it was in 2022. It was clean when we arrived and we left it the same, and followed suggestions left in the guest book inside the house and in the owner’s note on your verbo property site. This trip I cannot find an email to Glen, so I am putting my notes in this box: (1) you need shampoo in the outdoor shower. A bottle was there, but it was empty. We there it away. (2) the coffee filters are pretty much gone (3) THE LOCKBOX DID NOT OPEN THIS MORNING WITH THE CODE, SO THE HOUSE IS UNLOCKED! We tried for 25 minutes to fiddle with the evenness of the numbers and push down the lever on the side, to no avail. We found this frustrating, and of course the house is now unprotected until your team gets there to clean. Everything was great and we had a fabulous time! Mahalo, Cynthia Royce

A special home with great views and the ocean right across the street. You can see the Kohala mountains, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa from the living room. The neighborhood is very quiet and a nice change from the bustle of Kona.
The owner did a very good job of keeping us aware of anything we needed to know about and was always responsive and friendly. We will do our best to try to make it back for another stay in the near future

The owner, Glenn, is very responsive as are his on island support for the property. It’s a great place for a couple or more with a nice, smaller space downstairs. We’ve stayed here many times and look forward to coming back.

This was our second time here and we loved it. The panoramic views are spectacular, it’s a beautiful space, wonderful art, and it’s peaceful . Being a block from the ocean is a huge added bonus.

This was our 2nd time staying at Glenn’s home in Puako. We love it there. The house is airy and comfortable. I love the wrap around deck and the views out back. Someone compared it to the African savanna and I find that a good comparison. No giraffes or elephants but LOTS of birds. It is lovely waking up seeing Mauna Kea from the BR. The last time we were there it was erupting. No volcano show this time but the stars were amazing. I could see the Milkey Way every night.
The sheets and towels are very nice. The pantry is well stocked with some nice pans, a French press, coffee mill, etc. And the pantry has a door, light and fan. There is even a wine refrigerator in the kitchen.
I like the upstairs shower.
We love the snorkeling at Painou when it is calm. All kinds of fish!
The neighborhood is quiet, especially at night. During the day there can be leaf blowers, tree trimmers, etc. But you are suppose to be out having fun.
We’ll be back again.

We are so thankful we got to stay at this beautiful home in such a great location. The sunrise view over Mauna Kea from the balcony each morning was amazing, and we walked across the street for sunset over the ocean every night. The house is located on quiet street near Wailea Beach and a malasada food truck. Turtles were across the street in the tide pools. Fruit trees in the yard were fun. The kitchen was nice with an ocean view from the window. The upstairs shower was incredible. Mahalo!

That view towards Mauna Kea was so savannah-like we kept expecting a giraffe to come tottering by. We were sorry to leave.
