Keauhou Palena is located adjacent to the Kona Country Club and within walking distance of Keauhou Bay. It has its own pool and workout room. Keauhou Shopping Center with a KTA Supermarket, Regal Movie Theater and a variety of restaurants and shops is less than a mile away.
This 2/2 unit sleeps 5. Condo has brand new California King bed in the main bedroom and two brand new twin beds in the second bedroom as well as a brand new couch in the living room. With a new split AC system, it is one of the few air conditioned units in this complex. It features a modern kitchen with a large indoor eating area. The oversized lanai looks out on the golf course. It’s perfect for outdoor grilling and dining.
Located along the Kona Coast, Keahou Palena is your perfect headquarters for exploring the Big Island of Hawaii. Activities in and around Kailua-Kona include golf, snorkeling and scuba diving, surfing, kayaking, sunset cruises, whale watching, parasailing, jet skiing, hiking, theater, movies, shopping, cultural activities, and restaurants.
Longer drives will take you to Kilauea Volcano, Mauna Kea Observatories, Waipio Valley, Akaka and Umauma Waterfalls, Dolphin Qwest, Botanical Gardens, Black and Green Sand Beaches, Waimea and Parker Ranch, Ancient Hawaiian Fishponds, Hawaiian Petroglyphs, Coffee Farms, the Captain Cook Monument, and Historic Hilo town.

We had a bit of trouble finding the rental unit when we arrived late at night. But once we found it, the keypad worked like a charm and the unit was clean and as described.
The condo location is nice and convenient. The lanai looks out onto the golf course next door and we used the electric grill to prepare dinner a couple of evenings. We enjoyed the pool and morning walks to the nearby dock. The condo also had snorkels, fins, boogie board, beach chair, cooler, an umbrella that we borrowed for our trips to nearby beaches (King Kam beach was our family's favorite).
We have nothing bad to say about the unit itself, but the downstairs neighbor was a bit of a nightmare. He screamed at us the first morning as we were leaving for breakfast, accusing us of being too loud and stomping on the floors the night before. When he thought we were making too much noise, he banged on his ceiling to express his displeasure. Most nights, when we returned from our daily activities, he would leer at us from behind the screen door. He even yelled at my son for playing with his plants.
Admittedly, my kids can get a bit noisy and rambunctious at times. They did get a bit excited that first night when checking out our new place. But this jerk had seemingly zero tolerance for even a little bit of noise. It felt like we were walking on eggshells all week, and the dynamic definitely made our trip less enjoyable. Overall, it was a good place, but families should be warned about the jerk downstairs.

We have rented this condo 3 times for 3 months because of location. Perfect for us as we paddle for a canoe club that we can walk to.
Condo itself? The complex itself has a great manager, Jay, and grounds are meticulously maintained. The condo - inferior to others in complex. (We have rented in 3 others).
However, Not renting again. Each year fees go up and upkeep of this unit goes down. We are told by owner what a “deal” we are getting. It is very tired. One example: Lanai furniture has never changed-plastic fold up table, sun bleached, discolored plastic chairs. Look around at other lanais in same complex. Amenities- scarce. Fry pans so scratched- unsanitary for use. Coffee pot bottom burned. Towels & sheets threadbare, one thin blanket, garbage disposal kept breaking-we reset each time.When we asked items were supplied. The question being? Why did we have to keep asking. If you have reasonable cleaning standards, they will not be met here. Incidentally, checked area cleaning fees—-highest in area.
We have rented another, comparable, but very updated condo for less money. Regardless of what is said, they are available.
If staying for a short stay/ doable. Longer? I’d look elsewhere.

Got message while flying that the water heater was broken and could not be fixed for 3 days. After the 3 days, no one called or showed up. WE called and were told it would be another 2 days until it could be fixed We had to go to another unit to shower We canceled and went to an Air BNB where we could shower in our unit. Very unfortunate because the unit was nice

We are very physically active all day, so it is nice to arrive home and enjoy the peace and quiet afforded here.
