We arrived after dark after a long day of travel, and we weren't even sure we had the right place until the combination on the lockbox worked, LOL, but once we stepped into the house we felt any stress melt away. The spaciousness and vibe of the place with the pine paneling reminded me of cabins I grew up with back home in the Adirondacks, and I instantly felt at peace. When we woke up in the morning and could see the view of Anini beach, We knew we had chosen the perfect home for our 25th anniversary trip. The cottage has TONS of space for a one bedroom, and the kitchen is fully appointed for anyone who wants to cook up a beautiful island meal. (I love to cook, and my first reaction was, "Oh, I could cook in this kitchen.") This stretch of Anini Beach is quiet, calm, and shallow. At low tide you could easily walk out 100 yards or more if you wished. We saw several turtles in the shallows while walking the 2 mile beach. The location on the North Shore is ideal, with easy access to Kilauea, the magical town of Hanalei, and the end of the road beaches and parks. We didn't explore Princeville or south to Poipu, because that would involve crowds of people, and this cottage is PERFECT if you wish to have privacy and just enjoy the company you came with. As you make your final approach on Anini Road, remember you didn't come to Kauai for the infrastructure. ;) If we're ever lucky enough to return to Kauai, I wouldn't hesitate to rent "our" cottage again. Mahalo!

The house had everything we needed and more. It was clean, nicely decorated, just what I pictured a Hawaiian home would look like. Checking in and out was seamless.
Having an ocean in front of you and a forest behind you is priceless.
My husband and I came to Hawaii to celebrate our 30th anniversary. This house was perfect for that.
We hope to come back.
Thank you for sharing your home with us.

This property was absolutely amazing. Such a beautiful view out the living room windows. Spacious kitchen (but we didn’t cook lol), nice bathroom, great bedroom with very comfortable bed. We love the lanai with chaise lounges with a great view of the ocean. The ocean/beach was so close and absolutely gorgeous. I truly couldn’t have found a better place! Communicating with the owner was very easy! We were not really close to anything but we found we loved the drive to Hanalei and Princeville. There was so much to do and great places to eat. Even when we drove to the other places on the island it wasn’t a bad drive and was so pretty it didn’t matter how long it took. We did have a great deal of rain (wettest spring in years!) but we absolutely had the best time! We cannot wait to come back!

Nestled on the North Shore of Kauai, located just across the road from Anini Beach, one of the most picturesque beaches on the island, this home offered unparalleled access to serene beauty and endless ocean activities. The calm waters, protected by the outer reef, provided snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, and lazy walks along the beach. The tranquility of the beach, especially during the weekdays, was soothing to the soul. There were moments when it felt as if the beach was ours alone.
The adventurous path leading up to the Princeville resort area and the Westin provides a great early-morning coffee spot. Just remember, take it slow, you're on vacation. Hanalei town, is a 20-minute drive, offering a quaint and fun scene if the mood strikes for exploring.
What truly set this home apart was its privacy and the palpable sense of quiet it offered. The property, well-kept, homey, and providing everything you need for a comfortable stay, felt like a secluded haven amidst the lush Kauai landscape. The ocean views from the front window, and the breezes were peaceful and relaxing. The sense of calm and privacy it provided made our vacation truly relaxing, allowing us to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When you forget what day it is, you know you're truly on vacation.
For anyone seeking a memorable escape to Kauai, this is a great place to stay.

From the amazing view from the porch, the quick walk to the beach this place is just amazing. Such a lovely and inviting space to stay. The owner is just a delight and was among the best I have ever encountered in my years of renting. Don’t hesitate just book it.

This homey little cottage offers impressive natural beauty, surrounded by lush greenery and a stunning ocean view. The beautiful clear water across the road offers amazing snorkeling opportunities around the reef. New appliances made cooking a breeze, the kitchen was well equipped, the couch and bed were very comfortable. It is a little oasis off the beaten path. However there are some downsides. Unfortunately, that path is lined with homeless people, abandoned cars and is extremely bumpy. In addition the beach draws people at all hours playing music and shining lights into the bedroom. The property to the left has loud 4 wheel drive vehicles that drive past the property constantly and starts their lawn care very early in the mornings. The rustic nature of the cottage brings with it spiders, gnats, mosquitos, geckos, feral cats and chickens. Would we go back, ABSOLUTELY! It was a great way to experience Hawai’i for the first time.

Very nice, well taken care of comfortable home. We had a great time. Everything that we needed was at the home. It was wonderful to grab a cup of coffee, walk down the lawn and sit on a the quiet beach watching the turtles. The road is as described getting to the property. But wasn’t that much of an inconvenience. We hope to stay here again!

Suzi and Bob have really got the spot. The house is just steps from the beach and near the end of the road making it feel peaceful and far from loads of tourists.
Suzi also checked in to make sure everything was working as it should and gave us a ton of food recommendations. Hukilau in Kapaa was incredible - thanks Suzi!
We will definitely be back!

We had the most magical amazing time at Anini beach! The cottage was perfect for my husband and I and we loved the location. Lots of walks and beach time. We saw turtles sunning on our beach and snorkeling was amazing. Suzi was an amazing host and very responsive to all our needs. We will be back again!

First off I’d like thank the owner, Suzi. Very responsive and helpful.
PROS: house is secluded and very private. You have the beach directly in front of the house and the house is nestled in the trees. Really beautiful.
CONS: located in a questionable area. Seemed to be a lot of homeless campers camping on Anini Beach and in their cars. Many walk down the dirt road towards the house and are living out of their cars. Not a big deal, we were just surprised to see this. Definitely not just your local surfers.
The house is dated. Needs a new bed frame, new fans (they barely worked), new drapes (they were dirty and moldy). The oven broke our second night. Suzi was great and got there the next day, but we didn’t have an oven for the rest of our stay. We could have pushed for her to get a new one, but we really just wanted some privacy.
House needs more amenities. Kleenex, more towels, blankets, pens. The beach chairs were rusted and old.
The furnishings were a little uncomfortable. Needs a new couch. This house has so much potential but it just wasn’t super cozy for us. As mentioned, the owner is great and the location is okay, but the house was a huge turn off for us.
I would like to mention that Suzi did give us a 10% refund for the oven inconvenience.

Incredible location and facility. Perfect for two. Behind the house is dense jungle. Front yard opens to the ocean maybe 70 yards away. Calm warm ocean. The pictures for the listing don’t do the property justice. It looks good in the pictures but wait till you stand there in person. There is nothing more the property needs. You will enjoy it.
