Our comfortable, Hawaiian-style apartment is across the street from the tide pools and ocean/beach access in the quiet community of Puako. Over the years, we have collected surfboards and other bits of old Hawaii to add charm and privacy to this cozy little place.
Hale Nalu has beach/ocean access
The apartment includes a fully stocked kitchen with comfortable seating and everything you need to prepare a lovely dinner for two. The bedroom has queen-size bed and quality linens. The bathroom is large, but incase you feel like more room or a bit of romance, there is also an outside shower enclosed by tropical plants and flowers.
This is very comfortable and affordable for one to two people.

We were so excited to stay here and everything was just as we were hoping for and more! The place looks just as it does in the photos and beach access is right across the street! Peg is so kind and friendly! The apt had everything we needed and was perfect for me and my boyfriend! Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay! We also loved this area as it did not feel touristy, felt just like we lived in Hawaii!

For my wife and I, this place was perfect! Loved the convenience of snorkelling across the street, quiet neighbourhood and dark skies at night ( so many stars!!!!), close drive to beautiful Hapuna and Pauko beach and easy highway access to Kona and the Hilo side of the island. Trish was very kind - gave us our own space but checked in to see if we needed anything. Suite was well equipped with beach chairs, towels and small coolers as well as many bath towels, selection of kitchen supplies and a great barbecue. Had a beautiful outdoor shower. An amazing week spent at this cute place. Sad to be heading home to winter in Canada!

Perfect Puako rental for one, (our a couple), steps from ocean across the street. Cute private surfer lanai (patio) for meals, compact bar kitchen with one burner stove. Have to be well organized for making own meals vs. takeout, but everything needed to do so is on site. Comfortable bed, large closet and dresser for clothes, everything needed in shower only bathroom with outdoor shower to rinse off beach sand. Nice to have all outdoor equipment to meet beach needs available for use, (reef walkers, beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc.) Charming spot with Hawii'ana character perfectly situated between Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea beach resorts with great access to Puako Bay swimming / snorkeling + daily walk along Puako Beach Road.

Loved the location. Close walk to the water. Really enjoyed daily conversations with Carrie and Marta. Loved the outside sitting area. Loved the peace and quiet. As I have been battling esophagus cancer since November 2021 and am still recovering. So needed frequent naps.
Bedroom and bathroom were a Great size. Wish the kitchen/living area had been bigger. With More comfortable seating. The one burner stove top needs updating and having to move the dish drainer to put the toaster oven on the counter, was not ideal. But I made it work and overall was very satisfied with our 11 days there.
