Really nice back yard pool area & roof deck with ocean view. Great place for two couples or a family to have as a home base for vacation! Close to the airport but up around 1000ft where the nights are cooler.

The house is very nice and clean with a good selection of utensils in the kitchen. The pool is going to be cold in the winter. We knew that. There are a lot of chickens in the neighborhood. You are going to have your windows open to keep the house cool. You will hear them in the morning. We didn't mind them.

Ended up having to find another place half way through the trip. VRBO has not refunded our fee to them.

My husband, our adult daughter, her husband, and I stayed at this lovely property. We are not resort people. We love to explore the history and customs at the various places we visit. This property was in Kona and afforded us the many opportunities of exploring. Driving to Hilo a few days, about two hours, including doing a zip line....was exceptional. However, the best aspect of this property was the exceptional communication of the management (Hailey) and her expert Erin. We felt comfortable letting them know when we needed dishwasher soap, or extra towels. The fast responses were greatly appreciated! Having access to laundry facilities was a plus and our family enjoyed the pool. We visited in January, a rainy time, but used the pool between raindrops. Living in Los Angeles, we enjoyed the rain since we get very little. It is a privilege to be able to have a place to stay that is well kept and that you can feel secure. We would stay here again if only we can be assured that Hailey and Erin were still part of the management team!

The home was lovely and nicely decorated. My husband, adult daughter, her husband and I enjoyed our stay immensely. The management company, with Hailey and Erin, was incredible! Best communication I have experienced in renting vacation homes! The owners are fortunate to have this team! Simple requests like more towels or soap for the dishwasher were quickly fulfilled. The pool was lovely---cool on the days it rained [January is the rainy season on the island] but nice on the warmer days. We enjoyed grabbing the ripe mangoes from the tree for breakfast! We cut the giant gardenias and placed them in a glass to add fragrance to the house [I grow gardenias as a hobby, so this was particularly fun] The house is well ventilated --we closed the house when we were out [in case of rain], then opened windows and doors for cross ventilation--with the fans provided in each room, this was very comfortable.
My family and I enjoyed the proximity to Kona Coffee, luau, beach, and restaurants. They even have LYFT if you do not want to drive! Getting to Hilo was about 2 hours . Our donkey tour was cancelled because Hilo had flash floods. Driving in that rain made for white knuckles. We did go ziplining with Skyline Eco-Adventures at Akaka Falls [highly recommend--ask for Charles]. Light rain but dynamite views!
It was nice to come home to our 'Island home' after our activities. The four of us had space so we could read, swim, watch TV, or walk. We would definitely come back to this gem on one condition, that Hailey and Erin would be part of the team. Exceptional management company! Brava! Bev

Perfect location near several gorgeous beaches. Comfortable and smooth communication. Light sleepers may be bothered by neighborhood rooster calls that begin very early. With no A/C the windows will likely be open. Great pool!

We just left Kona Paradise and already making plans to book again for next year. The house has everything anyone can imagine, quality furnishings, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen and a very cozy outdoor area where we spent most of our afternoons. We enjoyed long morning walks through the quiet neighborhoods, watching the spectacular sunsets in the evening and stargazing at night (on one clear night we were actually able to spot the elusive Andromeda!). We got a good use of the pool every day and cooked most of our meals on the outdoor grill. The house was squeaky clean when we arrived, is spacious, very private, on a quiet street, and 10-15 minutes away from the main shopping areas and the touristy Ali'i Drive. Hailey, the property manager, was the perfect hostess, making sure every step of the way that we had everything we needed. And lastly, Mahalo to the owners for sharing their beautiful home with us. We are going home relaxed, happy and rested, now the hard part is to wait for another year to return.

This property is a very well appointed rental, with nice facilities, a very nice pool, nicely appointed kitchen with plenty of available cookware for entertaining, and the bathrooms and bedrooms are quite nice. The absolute best attribute of the property is the pool and outdoor patio area, which is mostly private, and the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful.
Issues I discovered once in the property seemed to be the result of property management neglect. There were many signs that made it obvious the property had not been occupied recently, which would not be an issue but for the fact that properties still need some bit of upkeep and care-taking even if not occupied. For instance, the small patio outside the master bedroom was filthy and had not been cleaned in quite a while. There were many dead bugs on the floors inside the unit. The water level of the pool was so low as to make the pump function inoperable (this could damage that function, as the pool maintenance person explained to me on the day he visited). The ceiling fan in the master had one speed, low, as has been mentioned by other renters, so it should be replaced. There is an issue with the plumbing in that every time water is used--a toilet flushed, water run in the dishwasher or sinks, the washing machine run---there is a very loud squealing noise emanating from the pipes (I highly recommend getting a plumber out to take a look). Lastly, the toilet in the master bath had to be replaced because it was leaking water.
While these issues did not impact my enjoyment of the unit dramatically, they did detract from my overall enjoyment of the unit during my stay. Having maintenance staff visit me twice in 2 days to repair a broken toilet was a bit intrusive. These are the reasons I would give the property a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating. It's a nice place overall, but there is certainly room for improvement in the upkeep of the property, particularly given the pricepoint of the rental.

We had almost 3 weeks and wish we could have stayed longer. The house is well equipped and nicely decorated. We also had a problem with the pool pump but the property manager fixed it the very next day. We enjoyed the morning hours at the pool side and the sunsets on the upper deck. Kohanaiki beach park and O'oma beach are close by and really nice with natural shadow and zones for surfer, swimmer, and children as well. Everything else what people could need is nearby. Thanks, VACASA!
