Welcome to Hale Hokua Nalu! This incredible 3 bedroom, 2 bath home near the ocean just oozes with style and charm, and is the perfect place to come home and relax after a day exploring the East side of the Big Island!
From the time you arrive, you can hear the sounds of the ocean just a block away! The downstairs has a master bedroom suite with a queen bed and a second bedroom with two twin beds. Upstairs you’ll find the gorgeous, remodeled kitchen, indoor dining, living room with fireplace (it does get chilly from time to time in the winters on the Big Island!), and another bedroom with a queen bed and guest bathroom. And then there’s the lanai – with ocean views, outdoor dining, separate outdoor seating and lounge chairs. There’s also a gas grill.
The newly remodeled kitchen is quite large and is perfect for preparing those scrumptious island meals. The dining table seats 6 and there’s extra seating at the bar for 2 more.
Walking around the property you'll find there are several fruiting trees, including a HUGE avocado tree, and a starfruit tree!

The quaint 1800's village of Pahoa is a 10 minutes’ drive with oodles of yummy restaurants, drug and grocery stores and gas stations. Historic Hilo town is a quick 20 mile drive, and the ever impressive Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is about 45 minutes away.

Enjoyed the home and space to spread out. Breakfast & computer on the 2nd fl patio was perfect. Quiet community with easy walk to ocean overlook & nearby park. Lower level bedrooms would benefit from portable hvac units as provided for 2nd fl bedroom.

We had a great 2-week stay in this well-appointed home. We enjoyed the location away from retail centers, yet whatever we needed was minutes away. The sound of the pounding surf, great views of the Pacific, and the neighbor setting were just what we wanted.

This house has so much potential. The location is amazing, the lanai is fantastic, and the BBQ works. Other than that, similar to other reviews, the things that are broken are too long to list. Broken blinds. A broken shower door. The most under supplied kitchen we have ever seen. Unbearable heat on the main floor (something a cheap window air conditioning unit would easily solve). Clearly the owner has no interest in investing a cent in this property, which is too bad because two days with a handyman and a few hundred dollars at Walmart could turn this property from a 2/5 to a 5/5.

We jumped ship from the mainland and found the accommodations at Hale Hokua O Nalu perfect for rest and relaxation. The property had everything we needed - including chairs, umbrella, and cooler for the beach. We loved hearing the frogs and birds in the surrounding lush landscape. The location is close to Pahoa, for all your needs. Highly recommend staying here!

Beware there is NO CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING. Although it did not advertise it had AC, I assumed that it would be cooler by the beach. NOT SO!!! It was unbearably hot upstairs, plus strong mold smell downstairs and mosquitos on the patio so there was no reprieve. The AC units helped but were super loud. The fans did not do much. Some things were upgraded but some things not. The garage was creepy. The gate "lock" was very inconvenient and not secure. The proximity to the ocean was nice (the bluffs were stunning but not a usable beach), however the area is a little sketchy and about 6 miles from stores and highway. The only positive things I can say are: the patio is nice in the mornings, the unit was clean and it was furnished nicely. But I would not stay here again.

Driving up the gate was rusted and couldn’t latch. The yard hadn’t been mowed and was covered with branches. Upon entering there was a terrible musty smell. We opened up the windows and the
Smell got better. The house was very very hot. Upstairs one fan and several lights didn’t work. The manager send a maintenance man (Steve) and he was awesome . The yard service came the next day.
We went to home depot in Hilo to purchase duct tape and wood. We set up the floor air conditioning unites we found in the closet. It really didn’t cool the house down much. We then tried to use the grill but the tank was empty. We didn’t call that
In because we got tired of spending all our vacations trying to make this house work.
I wouldn’t recommend this property during the summer months. It was very difficult to sleep because it was so Hot even with the portable unites. We even switched bedrooms ( upstairs to downstairs) and it didn’t help!

This place was well maintained and had some really nice amenities. The AC units in the bedrooms really helped keep the bedrooms cool overnight. The Kitchen was upgraded. Location was central to many sights and everyone had enough room to rome. The house is two block from the ocean but you will need to drive 15 minutes to any useable beach.
