Private Entrance in shared House
1 King, 1 Twin
Private Bathroom
Private Soaking Pool
The Gardenia Room is located on the lower level of the Ohana House, with a private entrance. Floor to ceiling windows look out onto the beautiful lush garden spaces and water feature. Guests enjoy a private full bath, mini fridge, hot water kettle, and private laundry facilities. The room includes a king size bed and a twin bed (bed spreads shown in picture may change). As guests of Hale Akua Garden Farm, those staying in the Gardenia Room also have access to our sixty-foot swimming pool, large hot tub looking over the ocean, sauna and the retreat center's large shared kitchen.
Note: Please keep in mind, our center is a rustic compound in the middle of the jungle. We do have de-humidifiers and air purifiers in every room as well as air conditioning units for when it is hot. We are centered in a tropical rainforest with many weird and wonderful insect species. We only use natural pesticides and cleaning chemicals on the property. As a result, we occasionally have more animal visitors. These may include geckos, ants, flying cockroaches, centipedes, cane spiders, and mice. We are in their natural habitat, so we will not be able to refund any portion of your stay for these house guests....

The directions to this jungle cottage were atrocious despite some clear landmarks. In a VRBO rental, we expect a kitchen. There was no kitchen. There was no lighting and the entry way was treacherous. We had a 3 night rental and left after one night. The de-humidifier in the room warned of "tripping" a circuit breaker behind the head board of the bed. The window shades were not secured and flapped all night. There were two other entrances to our "living area" that accessed other "living areas" in the building. No confidence in a secure stay.

This was a rural location. It seems it is more geared to group retreats. Greeting was kind. It was just 2 of us. Not sure why I expected in room cooking. I’m sure it was my misunderstanding. It was a shared kitchen facility for ALL site guests. We like to prepare our own meals rather than eat out. Our only distress was an experience at the hot tub and sauna - we were enjoying the tub and a couple came to get in and were completely naked … much to our surprise - but it’s probably because we are old school and modest. . We did have a relaxing stay at this rural setting but will probably choose a different location for future trips.

It feels like a Zen retreat. We did not spend much time on site. The check in was smooth.

If you’re looking to get away from the tourist centers and spend some time connecting with nature and your spouse/partner - this is the place! Tucked away in the green foothills of the east, this place provides you with an opportunity to disconnect and relax. Pool, hot tub and sauna ensure you have the tools necessary to do that. We cooked our own meals both nights since restaurants were a bit far. Hikes exist around the area. If you’re looking for a beach, it’s probably 20 minutes away to the north and definitely for experienced surfers only. This is more of a relaxing mountainside retreat.

We loved our stay at the eco resort. The Gardenia Room was perfect oasis and the grounds were beautiful and lush. We can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend for anyone wanting a rainforest / serene stay on Maui.

this place is amazing! a little hidden gem off the road to hana, it has all of the appeal of being tucked away and secluded while still being incredibly accessible. the property that the room sits on is stunning, with plenty of crops, sweeping views, and even a waterfall! you have to stay here to experience it.

The location was so peaceful. The room was such a nice break from the larger resorts. They were very accommodating to my last minute late check in as well.
