My husband was there for one night for work in Hilo. He said it was a really nice unit. Location was peaceful and the drive was faster than thought to Hilo. Will definitely reserve this location again when the need arises. Thank you!

This property was fine as a place to sleep at the end of the day, and the provided beach towels were a nice perk! The location is a bit annoying, about a 20 minute drive into Hilo, or 15 into Pahao (a smaller, more hipster, town in the opposite direction). Unfortunately the host was quite short with my fiancée and I upon checkin, contrary to the expectations reviews had set for us, so we got no recommendations or travel advice from them. Although we carefully followed it, the no shoe in the apartment policy felt like an excuse to avoid cleaning (considering the amount of dirt and sand on the floors upon our first entrance). There is a gate you must unlock and lock every time you enter or leave the property, with no light (nearly impossible to find the spot at night) and a decent amount of bugs biting at your ankles while you struggle with it. My fiancée was well practiced with the lock by the time we checked out, but it was frankly very annoying to deal with. The “shampoo”, “body wash” and hand soap are all the same liquid, so anyone with much hair will want to bring their own toilettées and there is no liquid in the labeled pump for conditioner. The walls are quite thin, so you may be woken up by the guests in other rooms of this house making phone calls.
As simply a sort-of-cheap place to rest your head after a long day of hiking or exploring Hilo it will do.

The only thing I really didn’t like was locking and unlocking the gate every time I want to go. luckily it wasn’t raining and the TV channels not much to choose from

I had a great stay! The lady was very nice and accommodating! She even supplied pop corn and hot cocoa. Love the location, close to everything I wanted to see.
