Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 3-5)
This ocean view unit is conveniently located on Alii Drive walking distance to town and shopping with beach across the street. The unit is beautifully furnished with new Tommy Bahamas style furniture, and yummy pillows.
The complex, Alii Cove, is the newest high-end gated condominium on Alii Drive. The complex has many amenities including, a resort style swimming pool, hot tub, workout gym, gas BBQs and gated entrance.
But, you won’t want to spend all your time around the complex. Honl’s Beach is conveniently located across the street. Honl’s Beach is famous for great surfing, body-boarding, swimming or just watching the sunset.
Make time to visit the local Farmer’s market in town for local grown fruits, flowers as well as gifts. Tour the historic Hulihee Palace where the Kings and Queens spent their summers. Or, walk to the pier to see the Billfish Tournament’s catch of the day, or, simply gaze into the crystal clear blue water to look for reef fish.
When you have explored town, jump in your car and drive around the island. Visit an active Volcano or the Mauna Kea Observatory. Go horseback riding, hiking, explore beaches, sunbath, shell, surf, snorkel or swim on the beautiful Hawaiian beaches. World class golfing and tennis is also located nearby.
And at the end of the day you can watch the incredible Kona sunsets right from your lanai....

A great location, in walking distance to town, beautiful grounds, fabulous swimming pool! The condo was well equipped, especially the kitchen….spices, condiments, baking products, coffee, etc.
Prompt and helpful communication with the host.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would certainly recommend Wayne’s condo for a vacation rental.

This was a business trip that became the stay of a lifetime. the Host was extremely helpful and very responsive! They went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. If we ever had a question or a concern they responded quickly and with information that was helpful.

First you need to know that, in order to get from the car to the condo unit, you need to traverse 36 steps (19 down and then 19 up). There's another way to get to unit from the car but it involves a much longer way around and going down a short, steep hill (or up on the way back to the car). This is of course quite difficult with luggage, or with packages/groceries from COSTCO, etc. (When raining it's also a bit dangerous unless you're holding on to the railing.) This was not revealed in listing details. Few of the upstairs units at this condo complex have this problem. Should've been disclosed explicitly.
The other design flaw is that the A/C compressor is on the lanai. The lanai small and closed on the top and on three sides. The compressor turns the lanai into an oven - totally unusable when A/C is on. This is ok if there's only one person staying there, or if all people staying there are either inside or outside (in which case you can shut off the A/C).
The condo DOES have some very positive attributes, the most positive of which is the view. There's a very nice view toward the ocean and you can even see waves breaking at Honl's Beach. Lovely!
There were some irregularities with the owner. First, he was supposed to take half of the total due at first and half I think 60 or 30 days prior to check-in. Instead he took ALL of the amount due from my CC upfront. He apologized but did NOT offer to reverse it. Said he didn't understand the VRBO system very well.
The other irregularity was check-out. Hawaii faced a COVID emergency toward the end of my stay. The State Health Director said: "I'm asking you to prepare like you would for a hurricane or other natural disaster...State health officials agree that the current situation is a crisis. We are there. We are on fire...at the point at which we overwhelm our resources, that’s a disaster. That’s where we’re heading". Later, Governor Ige pleaded with visitors not to come to Hawaii. I love Hawaii and its people. I felt that the situation required that I leave, even though I was vaccinated. So, I followed the State Health Director's plea and I left 12 days early from the 60 day reservation. I left as soon as I could so I was only able to give 3 days notice (though he would not I hope have re-rented it during the crisis ). Owner sent a refund check - but only for about 45% of what was due. Owner's not dishonest but makes decisions on what to disclose/do that are very skewed toward his financial interest

We have stayed in Alii Cove a few times before but unfortunately the owner had just sold the property and therefore it was no longer available. We like the landscaping, pool and hot tub area plus the close proximity to town and other amenities of this resort which is one of the reasons we choose to stay here.
Anyway,Wayne's condo suited our plans regarding time, size ,location etc so we opted to stay there and could not have been happier with our choice.
The view from the lanai was wonderful, the neighbours quiet and friendly and the beds very comfortable(my husband is very picky)
Yes of course I could nit pick about certain aspects, some furniture needs updating for example and pantry, cupboards and drawers need a good sort out,but as new owners the Coppers have probably not had time to get everything done.
The fact that when we return to the Big Island we shall not be looking elsewhere for accommodation is recommendation in itself
We had an enjoyable 3 months and anyone who decides on this apartment will not be disappointed

Wayne is a new condo owner. He is working on communications and information. I found him very receptive to my inquiries. The condo is wonderfully situated with a great swimming pool. Beautiful view from the lanai (although heat pump on the lanai was a negative- turn off air conditioner before using lanai)

The house has all you need, and the view from the balcony is just stunning!
It's close to downtown Kona, but in a nice and quiet compound, and was perfect to have as home for preparation and in race week for IRONMAN World Championship.
