The spirit of aloha lives in our tropical two-bedroom, ocean view condominium, and it awaits your arrival! Situated on a small rise, the view of the ocean is as delightful as the trade winds that greet you when you slide open the plantation shutters. Our unit - #74, in Building 14 - is a corner unit, so privacy is yours as well. And in March of 2023 we added AIR CONDITIONING in both bedrooms and upstairs in the kitchen/living room area!
We have decorated the condo (we call it Hale Ohana-House of Family and Friends) in “island style” to stay in spirit with the tropical views all around you. As it can accommodate six guests (1 king, 1 queen and queen sofa bed), our hope is that you will relax during your stay! Sit on the lanai upstairs (or the patio outside the master bedroom) and enjoy the swaying palms and vibrant blue hues of the Pacific.
One of the delights in staying at Kiahuna Plantation is its grounds, brimming with plumeria trees, bougainvillea, hibiscus, bridges and lawns that meet the sea. Hale Ohana sits near the middle of these lush 35 acres. The Moir Gardens - also famous for its collection of cacti, bromelaids, koi fish and water lilies are located here as well; you will see them when you check in with Outrigger Resorts. There are gas BBQ grills dotted all over the property. The “great lawn” at Kiahuna is nestled up-to beautiful Poipu Beach, acclaimed for its warm, crystal clear water, swimming, snorkeling, surfing and boogie boarding. It’s just the perfect spot to do anything- or, absolutely nothing! It’s no wonder that Poipu has been awarded the ninth "Best Beach" in America in 2023 by Dr. Beach (out of 650 beaches in America)
We fell in love with Kiahuna when we honeymooned there over 35 years ago and fell in love with it again when we began visiting with our two young sons. Now in their 30’s, they still love all the water sports, hiking, kayaking, body surfing and reading under the palm trees.
FURTHER NOTES ON HALE OHANA
Hale Ohana was completely remodeled in 2010. The kitchen sink (stainless steel) and countertops were upgraded (Travertine tile and granite). New wooden cabinets were installed, as well as a new oven, microwave and refrigerator. Since the major remodel, other items have been replaced (carpet) or upgraded (toasters, coffee makers, pots and pans). As the condo is frequently in use, we replace pillows, bedspreads, furniture and design elements often.
In February 2020 all interior walls were painted and the master bathroom cabinets were refinished. In May 2021 we upgraded the tile on the master lanai.
As the unit occupies the east end of Building 14, there are many more windows than a middle unit, and the trade winds flow freely (ceiling fans have been installed in each room). There is neither a unit above or below. Both bedrooms have flat panel TVs with cable. Free high-speed internet service is provided, and the living room has a Sonos audio system.
When you enter the condo, you’ll be on the ground floor, which hosts the two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen, dining room and living room are on the upper level. There is an unobstructed ocean view from the upstairs and downstairs lanai, but the condo is set back far enough from the main beach that guests have lower noise and greater privacy. Both the great lawn and beach are a short 2 minute walk away.

This property is our favorite on Kauai and certainly a repeat. The view from the lanai is absolutely perfect and the right distance from the beach to enjoy the grounds of Kiahuna Plantation while still watching the waves and hearing the surf.

This is our second vacation at this property. It certainly wil not be our last. It has a perfect combination of view, proximity to beaches and adjoining Poipu Athletic Club, privacy, and value. Great communication with the owner and great service from Outrigger Resorts Management Company. The view of the ocean and gardens from the lanai are breathtaking and in my view, the best on the property.

We loved staying at the Kiahuna Plantation. The grounds were absolutely lovely and very well kept. The unit was as described. Very clean, great location. We were able to spend every day at the beach and go on a couple excursions. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

We really loved our stay here. It has a beautiful unobstructed view of the water and it is such a short walk. Less than 5 min. The accommodations were clean, spacious and had all the necessary amenities like pots/pans, coffee maker, refrigerator etc. my only complaint is that the walls are thin so easy to hear others. Also we checked in past 8pm and we weren't given the building number only the unit number. Luckily a worker was driving on the property and showed us where it was.

Owner was responsive to requests ahead of stay. Unit has best view, is comfortable and well equipped. It was warm so we were happy for A/C in all rooms. The only downside is both beds were extremely uncomfortable-too firm and uneven.

This property was just as described. The unit was clean and had a very well equipped kitchen and lots of beach chairs and umbrellas. Very comfortable living area and comfy beds. The owner was quick to respond to questions or concerns. Would definitely recommend this property. We will be back!

This unit is in a great location on an expansive lawn with a lovely ocean view and breeze. Our family of four enjoyed staying here for a week in June. We appreciated the beach umbrella, chairs and boogie board provided + it’s great to have in-unit laundry as you sweat through a lot of clothes! The owners Alan and Anne were friendly and responsive when I asked a question ahead of check in.
It does suffer a bit from indifferent property management which you can feel through the absence of welcoming touches and attention to detail. For $723/ night, I’d recommend a few things to enhance the experience:
While mostly clean, the refrigerator needed a better scrub and the windowsills were littered with dead flies. There were zero condiments in the kitchen, no salt or oil, nothing. We had other family members renting comparable units across the property and they had pantries that included a few basics which would have been nice. And while a full welcome basket is never expected, it would have been nice to have some macadamia nuts or even soap and shampoo from a nice local shop instead of the property management-branded bathroom basics. Thoughtful touches would really bring the warmth of the islands into the unit!

Kiahuna is a special place for sure, and this unit is in a great location. It was very clean and beds were wonderful. The only thing we missed was salt and pepper and basic seasonings. Visited many other units friends were at.aging in here, and everyone had basic seasonings but us. But that was fixable ! Will come back for sure. Thank you

We have enjoyed four family vacations over the years at Kiahuna Plantations (Outrigger). This is our first stay at this lovely unit - beautiful views, convenient location, renovated.
We took full advantage of the properties amenities and location, enjoying time at the beach as well as the pool, morning or sunset walks, kid runs on the grass and garden walks, dinner and shopping across the street, and Farmers' Market, more shopping and dining at the other nearby center.
We'll be back and will recommend Kiahuna Plantation and specifically this condo to family and friends.

This was a beautiful place, with a beautiful view, a lot of amenities, and a great owner! We had a wonderful experience and would certainly return! Great to have an upstairs and downstairs area. Kitchen was well appointed. The AC units worked when needed! But really weren’t needed. Easy walk to the beach.
