Uhane Olinda is a beautifully renovated 1908 Hawaiian ranch home in restful and restorative Upcountry Maui. Located two miles above the paniolo (cowboy) town of Makawao and away from the tourist areas, the home offers the ambience of an expansive lawn, large trees and a magnificent ocean view. Verdant ranch land and Anuhea Flower Farm border the property.
The home offers a master bedroom with a queen bed, attached walk-in closet and full bath. The second bedroom has a king bed and shares a full bath with a third bedroom. The third bedroom has a trundle with two twin beds.
There is a is a large living area that opens onto a covered porch. Sunsets from the porch are magnificent with a view of the ocean and West Maui Mountains. The dining table seats six. The dining room with French doors opens onto a deck with a view of the lawn, flower beds and large trees.
The kitchen is fully equipped and the owners leave items in the cupboards that are available for guest use. The laundry is next to the kitchen and laundry soap, spot removal spray and dryer sheets are provided.
There is a covered carport as well as other spaces for parking.
There is no TV reception but there is a TV and DVD player for movie viewing. A selection of movies is in the living room and places to rent movies are noted in the guest information binder. We hope you will just enjoy “getting away from it all”! A portable CD player is available with a selection of Hawaiian music other CDs. Wireless internet is available. Books, games and puzzles can be found in the living room.
The beautiful lawn area is surrounded by large eucalyptus trees and pasture land in which you may see a few cows. Fruit from the orange tree and lime tree may be used by our guests. A swing hangs from the huge camphor tree in the lawn.
There are no neighbors visible from the house. On occasion, the flower farm may make use of the detached garage.
The town of Makawao, two miles away, offers many restaurants, coffee shops and wonderful shopping with a variety of art galleries and specialty stores, including a glass blowing studio. Pharmacies and grocery shopping (with movie rentals) are ten minutes away. The closest beach is about a 20 minute drive. All beach activities are to be found within 30 - 40 minutes. If you are considering a stay on Maui, look no further. Sterlings place will take you back to a time long forgotten. It is far away from the beach crowd and tourists, but close enough for a day of enjoying those areas only to return to this gem of a retreat. Beautiful bi-coastal views, right on the edge of where the island turns a little more green. It will be an experience you won’t forget. Just a short drive to Makawao, Pukalani or Kula for restaurants and stores. This is the one!

Absolutely fantastic stay at this treasure of a home. Impeccably clean, spacious, well appointed and maintained. The area is quiet and serene with surrounding picturesque views. We were thrilled to have stayed in such a grand home!
Nothing but kudos to the management team that maintains this property. Thank you for making a lasting memory for our family.

This was a wonderful place to spend 10 days and celebrate our 50th anniversary with our family. We loved this beautiful property and home. Quiet and peaceful. The views were postcard perfect.
It is in a great location to avoid tourist crowds, but within close proximity to all Maui offers. 30 minutes to beach and snorkeling, one hour to Haleakala, close to the Road to Hana, zip lining, hiking, Maui Ocean Center.
Our young grandsons loved playing in the large yard - swinging on the tree swing, flying kites, throwing their frisbee, playing with their bat and wiffle ball. A GREAT place to enjoy time with family!
Thanks for sharing!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home in upcountry and hope to return someday. The property has amazing views, beautiful plants and trees, and so much nature to watch. We spent hours sitting at the various outside areas watching the butterflies and birds. Even saw a few pheasants and peacocks. The night sky was incredible on clear nights with so many stars. It was so idyllic and peaceful. The house was also very beautiful, clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. As other reviews noted, the owners took extra care to ensure the comfort of their guests with a nicely stocked pantry and other amenities such as books, games etc. This is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at over the many years we’ve vacationed.

What a wonderful place. I strongly recommend you stay in the upcountry and at this magnificent home. It is beautifully appointed with high quality furnishings. Nothing cheap. They did it right. To sit in the screen porch playing cards and watching a wonderful sunset across the island was a pleasure. From a location standpoint we found it ideal - we could get to the coast when we wanted, and easy access to Haleakala and hiking trails everywhere. We loved the fact that the kitchen actually had plenty of condiments and supplies for us to use in cooking meals. They overstocked the pantry with all things Costco. You will not run out of anything. Sterling was a pleasure to work with and very gracious in helping make our stay perfect. This place is a gem. We will be back.

Uhane Olinda is a place we will be talking about forever. The upcountry experience is one that every visitor to Maui should not miss. Away from the beaches and glitzy hotels is a world full of nature and beautiful vistas. We loved the quaint small town atmosphere of Makawao and enjoyed all it had to offer. The shops were fun, the restaurants were great, and the people we met were lovely. Uhane Olinda was beyond expectations. The home was perfectly restored and was well appointed to accommodate our every need. We picked oranges off the tree, took our turns on the tree swing, and enjoyed the magnificent ocean and mountain views from the lanai. We are so grateful we got to experience this wonderful place, this wonderful home.

The entire stay was incredible! If we had a negative it would be the mattresses. They could be updated since they seem to getting older. The mattress warmers were nice. Incredible home, grounds and view! We will be back.

Their home is lovely. Well-stocked with all the essentials one might need. The managers are kind, attentive and informative. The greatest gift for us was the peaceful, beautiful area away from the tourist bustle. It is centrally located on the island and a very manageable drive to anywhere on the island. We are very grateful we found this gem.

It was a seven days staying on our first Maui trip. I like the place, nice and quiet at night. I can wake up in the morning and listen to the bird sing. There is a farm with a few cows next to the house. Every morning I bring my fresh make coffee and watching those cows having breakfast; a different life experience which I enjoy the farm living piece and quick morning.
The property manager is friend and helpful. His kid and him came to help us about a door not able to be locked. We had a few chatted and he provide a guide to the Island place to go.
Anyway, it is a memorable place to stay. I will come back again.

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house was comfortable, clean, and well stocked ! The deck with its table and chairs was the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with a view.
So happy to find old favorites like the Pukalani Superette, which has a some great prepared foods to grab in the morning for lunch and is just a few minutes drive. If you plan your trip well, the Makawao rodeo ground is right down the road and still has events.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
