Due to Maui’s rural setting, you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don’t kill them. Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Maui is in a tropical climate. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. This was our third stay at Honua Kai. Our last two visits we stayed in units on the sides of the building; this unit is at the back—facing the street. As other reviewers have mentioned, this unit is directly above where delivery trucks enter the building. That noise didn’t bother us, but the wind prevented us from using the lanai. We’d recommend staying on the sides or oceanfront if you want to use your lanai. This unit wasn’t as well stocked as others: only one replacement garbage bag, no beach wagon or umbrella, no Kleenex, etc.

The ac did not work threw out the house and one bedroom, the fan In the living room didn’t work… so there was no air flow! The washing machine had mold in it and it was leaking so the floor was soaked!! But other than that it was nice and the kids had a blast

Booked in a rush and didn’t read the reviews about location/noise from delivery trucks. This unit it directly above the receiving docks and garbage bins. RELENTLESS beeping from Sysco deliveries (starting at 6:30a) and huge trash bins being moved around. Some deliveries were at 3:30am. Noise from the bins vibrates throughout the unit. Would not recommend staying in this unit.

This unit located on the hotel property but you are renting from privet party there for your key opens only your unit. The unit itself is clean and have beach chairs and towels. It over looking at the parking lot. We had no internet ( broken modem) any attempt by manager were unsuccessful. I will not stay at this place again.

Nicely appointed unit with beach chairs and boogie boards for the kids! It is overlooking the parking lot and entrance for the service trucks with a Mountain View in the background. Carpets were filthy when we arrived! (Unit had been occupied every day for 3 months so they hadn't been able to clean the carpets according to them) We let the owner know, and they were great about setting up carpet cleaning the next day. We were promised a discount because of the inconvenience...but have not heard back from the owner since our last inquiry about this.

Overall the room itself was good, the major bad things are the AC unit on the main living room DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. Our guest who slept there was roasting most of the time. Also you need to update the sofa bed, it is terrible, again our guest who stayed there had to sleep on the sofa itself as he said he felt the springs on his back.
The property itself "Honua Kai Resort" was outstanding, we had a lot of fun.
Next time we will look closer at the reviews to make sure all is fine with the unist, we're not sure if we'll stay in this same unit again.
Also if you cannot disclose the physical location of the room how is the review going to help future guests, I don't get it.
