Our lovely condo, situated on the second floor, offers guests comfort and privacy while being equipped with everything you'll need for an enjoyable getaway on the Big Island of Hawaii. You'll wake up to the sun peeking over Mt. Hualalai in our luxurious California King-sized bed and step into the living room to view dolphins frolicking in the ocean. Our bedroom and living room have been decorated with Hawaiian-motif furniture including a Queen-sized sofa sleeper for extra sleeping space.
You'll find our kitchen is fully stocked with all the comforts of a second home including a dishwasher and washer/dryer. For indoor entertainment, there is a cable-connected HD TV and DVD for catching up on movies. And, if you like to stay connected, our unit also has a password protected Wi-Fi. If the trade winds aren't blowing, you can cool down with the window A/C units in the bedroom and living room if you'd like.
Just outside our unit sits The Kona Makai, which is a lush gardened complex that captures the essence of Hawaii. Beneath the sway of palm trees, doves and other birds sing to one another among the Hibiscus and Plumeria blossoms. A pathway through the garden leads guest to a swimming pool and hot tub near the shoreline.
The propane BBQs down by the ocean are the perfect place to grill your dinner while watching a Hawaiian sunset and sipping a cool drink. Tennis courts above the parking lot enable you to play a few sets before heading off to sight-seeing on the Big Island.
**CONSTRUCTION NOTICE:
Spalling Repairs began July 2024 and continuing through the year. Work will take place M-F: 8AM - 5PM.This will involve work from ladders, pump jacks, scaffolds, extending boom lift and the use of grinders, chipping hammers, and tarps in some areas. Work will stop from October 21st-29th for Ironman. Work will stop from December 23rd- January 3rd for the Holidays.
Minimum stay varies seasonally 4 -10 nights. This is a non-smoking, no pets unit. $10 daily additional person fee applies to occupants over the standard occupancy of 2 guests.

We enjoyed our stay, and with a few exceptions, the unit is furnished with everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay. The unit is a bit dated and could benefit with some updates. For example, the television is about the size of a computer desk monitor and there’s only a couch in the living room with no comfortable chair. The bathroom towels and the beach towels were somewhat worn. Neither of the ceiling fans worked properly. Note that this is one of the rental units that supplies little more than salt and pepper in the way of kitchen supplies. That said, our friends liked the unit so much that they are renting it next year.

Had a great time staying at Kona Makai 4202. Parking was ample and check in was a breeze. The condo was well equipped and complex was beautiful. Can be cozy with neighbors on other lanais but to be expected in Hawaii. We had an exceptionally obnoxious neighbor yelling loudly and profanely for a very long time. One call to Kona Coast Vacations management and the situation was quickly resolved and no more problems. A couple suggestions for the condo itself: a new mattress would be welcomed, a bigger and smart tv mounted on the wall so the AC isn’t blocked by furniture. Everything else was perfect.

Went to Kona to attend a wedding and found this unit. Looked good, and it was. Do not have anything to say bad about Alii Makai. It was quiet, grounds kept up very nice.
Would we go again to this unit? Yes we would.

We had an end unit that was shaded in the morning looking out over the gardens to the ocean. Tranquil place to R & R. There are 100+ units in the complex and rules to limit phone calls on the balcony’s to keep the noise levels down.
Pricing was competitive and quality was top of the pile.
Parking was crowded but not a problem finding space.
The location is close to the tourist strip and accessible to grocery and restaurants by shuttle or rental car but not walking.
Book here and you will like it.

We had a great time at this venue. The pictures were true to form. The location was excellent as it made us get out and walk a bit :) . Plenty of parking for our rental vehicle. The unit was VERY well appointed. There was a little confusion over the registration process for the rental car but an on site employee was quick to help and it was appreciated. We are already talking about re-booking for next year! Highly recommend this location.

Property was as advertised and professionally managed.
Small, and seemingly old stains on carpet in hallway were a minor detraction. Could be brightened with shampooing. Excellent internet service. Good tv cable service. Some morning noise from parking lot. Overall, though, it met our needs quite adequately and at a reasonable cost.

The location is great, we did a lot of walking into town, about 1.5 miles one way. We also had a car and we're gone all day everyday. Of course the pictures make the place look way bigger than it was, but we managed okay with 4 adults. The negative issues were all the rules. As Christian adults were are very respectful. We don't drink nor smoke or stay up late partying. But there were rules on which stalls to park in, "no phone calls on the lanai", in fact nothing on the lani, don't slam the door", even though the screen door slams on it own. "Take out the trash everyday" and I had to count towels to make sure we washed any "excess" towels. There's 3 pages or rules and whatnot. One morning we received a note left on our door because one time I forgot to change the mode on the ac unit. The front door was also hard to find in the dark when we arrived. The numbers to all the units are covered by greenery. So it was not a very relaxing place to stay, convenient but not relaxing.

We had an amazing stay!! Very clean and great location to downtown. Easy access to reservation detail information on Happy Stays X App and clear communication prior to check-in. Friendly neighbors and quiet days/nights. Bonus to have beach gear (umbrella, chairs and cooler) for use. We would definitely stay again if visiting the Big Island.

We had a great vacation to Kona. This is a great location. The condo was clean and just the perfect size for us. It is a very quiet complex. If I have one suggestion, we only had two towels for one week. So having only one towel each, we had to do laundry ever day. Other than that, highly recommend this condo.

Location and parking were key for us as we were out and about most of our trip and this property nailed both. Super convenient location and even more walkable than we thought. There were always open parking spots near our unit which made loading/unloading a breeze. Overall, great experience. Only gripe about the unit itself was cleanliness as it just felt superficially clean. For example, all surfaces were clearly wiped down and the linens were cleaned/folded, but we had to rewash several pots/pans and knives before using as there were visible signs of residue and when we walked into the unit and were greeted with several piles of dead bugs.
