Honua Kai is an interesting property with a bit of an identity crisis. There's a definite condo vibe, which is nice. Owner-specific amenities such as upgraded cooking equipment, S&P, oil, and the cooler were extremely useful. Communication and responsiveness with the property managers was exceptional, they even rushed some bbq tools over when we noticed them missing just before we were about to cook dinner late on a Sunday. Really comfortable bedding, even the sofa bed unfolded in a cool and kinda funky way. The nana doors really opened up the place to the large lanai which gave us tons of room to spread out.
The resort itself has a pretty decent shop on site (with anticipated pricing ofc) and of course the Duke's restaurant, which is great. Otherwise, it has more of a DIY vibe, not a lot of organised activities and service compared to the Westin next-door (for example, we paid twice as much for a private cabana at the Honua Kai pool and got half the service compared to the Westin).
I was a bit concerned about the location of the unit on the property situated directly over the lobby with a lanai that was open to all of the other units on that floor, but in fact it turned out to be a bonus. The lanai was super spacious, there wasn't a lot of noise from the lobby, and the sunrise was exceptional over the mountains.
Would definitely book again.

We were so pleased with our accommodations. We felt the concierge was non interested in helping us with our excursions of interest. And she rudely ignored us, though we politely waited for a long time. Not impressed with that service.

Nice place to stay, nice pools and Dukes was delicious. The staff was helpful and took good care of us. Nice welcome package of coffee and chocolate! There where no directions left on how to connect with internet. When I called for help, had to leave message. When call returned she left me a message stating that instructions where left in welcome information (we didn’t have it in our room). Also don’t know how well fridge was cleaned, there was a bottle of water from prior occupant in the freezer. Took along time for clothes to dry in dryer. Was a great trip, would stay there again!

It was a very clean, bright room with everything that you may need. The only issue was the dishwasher didn't work that well and the washing machine also had minor issues. Certainly, not enough to ruin your day.
Pool area was very nice and the staff for check in was great.

Everything was great! The only thing that I would criticize is the dryer takes extremely long to dry clothes.

We had a great time! The property is nicely located close to smaller restaurants and about 5 miles from Front Street. Beach access is great and the walking path along the beach is beautiful. Black Rock Beach is 2 miles away which has wonderful waves and cliff jumping. We will definitely be coming again!
