We love staying at the Kahana Reef complex whenever we visit Maui. Slightly removed from the resort areas and busyness of Lahaina, but right on the oceanfront, it’s truly a quaint and quiet area great for true R&R!
Cheryl’s unit had many notable amenities:
- The window AC unit was a game changer as it was so refreshing to come home after a day in the sun and turn on the AC to cool down.
- The chairs, cooler, and towels provided by Cheryl made beach trips to D.T. Fleming and Honolulu Bay extremely easy.
- The binoculars were a special treat as we were able to watch humpback whales right from the lanai. We even saw one fully breach! We enjoyed grabbing a 6-pack from Maui Brewing just down the street and watched for whales - a great low-cost evening activity.
Would highly recommend the property and would gladly rent again from Cheryl!
Note: there was only 1 roll of toilet paper at the condo for our ~weeklong stay. We ended up buying more at the gas station, but would have liked some extras! Not a big deal, just an item of note :)

Quiet, comfortable and beautiful view. You can hear the waves all night and see whales from your balcony. Way better than staying in a hotel!

I didn’t want to write this review because I want to be able to rent this condo again and I’m afraid that it’s going to be hard to rent it as more people experience it.
The location is amazing and the pictures do not do it justice to the view of the ocean.. I would stay at this condo whether I saw whales or not because of the price, convenience, and views. Now about the whales, I’m reviewing this during the High part of whale season. My actual experience was couldn’t look off the balcony Without saying either a blow hole, Tail, or breaching whale within 3 minutes. Many were in the distance and sometimes hard to see without binoculars (which actually there is a pair in the condo, but bring an extra pair if you have one to avoid fights with your companion,) Some were close enough to see detail, but you won’t see any coming up to your balcony to be petted, , And I strongly suggest that if you have a camera with a good telephoto lens to bring and you’ll get amazing shots. If you don’t have a camera I suggest you beg, borrow or steal one from a friend (but if you end up stealing one I would suggest that Cheryl counts the towels before you leave) I was here for a wedding with a lot of my family, and most of them stayed at the Westin which was about $800 or more night depending on the view. For that kind of money all they got was a basic room and some with a decent ocean view, and the whales were just as far away from their hotel as the condo and from other locations I visited Also, my family was very jealous about what I got for about a quarter of the price and they all will be renting condos in the future. The fact they were in a hotel room and they had to eat out most of their meals cost a pretty penny (Lincoln was a good looking guy) , and if you see prices in Maui you’re going to realize that it’s very expensive. Having a kitchen will save you a lot of money. Hotel are not a place to hang out during my free time but I could sit on the balcony and watch the whales and the occasional turtle (the turtles were very close by) and just enjoy the ocean sound and location and beach, and pool -That seemed to be heated.
There is a small private beach to the right of the condo which was not crowded at all (the opposite of my families experience at the Westin) Also I saw plenty of rainbows out the balcony. The place was clean and large and very comfortable. The bed was great and she has an A/C unit. Cheryl cares that you have the best time

With a modern decor, this condo was perfect for two. The bedroom is roomier than most, 4th floor balcony had a great view of Molokai and Lanai (perfect for whale watching), and kitchen had everything needed. Property is well-maintained and owner kept in touch to make sure everything was satisfactory. Several local eateries or short drive to Kaanapali or Lahaina. Great place. Would definitely return.

Cheryl’s condo is excellent. Spacious, clean, well-stocked and you can’t beat the balcony views of the ocean. The overall property is relatively quiet and easy to get to all the key spots in the greater Lahaina area. Beach chairs/towels are provided for the small beach next to the property and there are lounge chairs for the pool/lawn area overlooking the water. Check throughout the day and you will see the turtles come to the sea wall. Cheryl was communicative and easy to reach. I’d happily stay here again on another trip to Maui.

We have stayed here many times over the last 20 years. With a new owner this year it is even better. This is a quiet place perfect for couples. The property has a nice pool, awesome view, right on the water. Easy walk to a couple small beaches or a 5 minute drive to Kaanapali, Napili, or Kapalua beaches. Very comfortable condo with everything you need
