What's nearby:
Ke Nani Kai is a lovely property located on the west side of the island of Molokai, with grounds that include a large outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub, two tennis courts, gas grills, lounge chairs for sunbathing, and tables for al fresco meals. It's about a five-minute walk down an access road to Kepuhi Beach, which is great for surfing in the winter months, ideal for swimming and snorkeling come summer, and the site of many paddle races to Oahu. You'll also be a short stroll across the old golf course from Papohaku Beach, one of the longest beaches in the state of Hawaii with waters that are rough in the winter but calmer for ocean swimming in summer. Ke Nani Kai is a half-mile stroll from Make Horse and its many tidepools, six miles northwest of the town of Maunaloa (the only town on the west end), and 19 miles west of Kaunakakai, where most grocery stores, art/gift shops, mini markets, restaurants, and equipment rentals are located.
This arid west side of Molokai, just 12 miles from the airport, is known for having less rain than the east side of the island. And the island-wide evening quiet hours make Molokai perfect for romance, families, solitude, and experiencing a glimpse of the real Hawaii away from the tourist crowds.
Things to know:
Free WiFi (but please note that WiFi can be spotty)
Full kitchen

We love Molokai and have stayed at Ke Nani Kai for many years. We have loved all the units we’ve rented and stayed in until staying in 155. I have never written a bad review until now. We actually stayed in 155 in 2019 and were satisfied, but in those 2-plus years the unit appears to need some much needed maintenance and TLC. The clothes dryer’s heating element never worked during our stay. I called Vacasa twice and they assured me someone would come to fix the dryer, but no one ever came. I never was able to dry our clothes in the dryer. Both toilets need new toilet kits. You have to hold the handle down on one or it won’t flush. The other toilet you have to flip the handle up or it continues to run. The refrigerator drips water on the top shelf. I had to keep a towel in the fridge otherwise our food would be sitting in a pool of water. The curtains were missing hooks and very difficult to open and close. The coffee maker needs to be replaced. It took almost an hour for it to brew a pot of coffee. There were only 3 coffee cups, and only 5 table knives. There were holes in the sliding screen doors. The futon in the living room needs a new mattress and cover. The futon cover had holes in it and was dirty. Check out is too early, 10:00 am. We asked for a late check out and were willing to pay a little extra because our flight did not leave until 6:30 pm, but were told by Vacasa that because of COVID they could not do that, so we ended up paying for an entire extra day just so we could stay in the condo for an extra 7 hours. Ke Nani Kai and the amenities at Ke Nani Kai are terrific and we will stay there again, but will shy away from renting a condo from Vacasa in the future.

I was a part of a group of 14 so we rented 4 condos in Ke Nani Kai. This was definitely number 4 of the 4. Needs a serious update.

Curtains were falling off hooks and didn't work. Had to pull really hard to get them to open or close. The screen doors were in really sad shape, one was completely off the tracks and just landed up against the slider door. Lots of mold in bathroom tub. Refrigerator is on brink of not working and puddles off water would be found on the shelves constantly. We made sure it was not on anything but "normal" setting for the cold temps (not excessively cold). The kitchenware supplied for use was not adequate. Very small pots n pans. When cooking for 6, took forever because I had to do it 3 seperate times because pans so small. No rice cooker.

This condo was a great find. My sister and her family were quite pleased with the place. It’s a good thing it has decent WiFi at the property because cellular phone service out here is horrible.
The lock code and internet access details are sent to you the day of checkin via the app. I understand why they wait until the last minute to do this but I did not get the access code before I got to the property.
Due to the horrible cell service out there, I had to drive outside of the resort area to get a signal and call Vacasa but they were able to verify my identity over the phone and provide me the access code and Internet access information.
Everything was great after that — and I got the access code in the app once I got in the condo and hooked up to the WiFi.
The kitchen is clean and more than we needed for a 2 night stay but would be fantastic if we chose to spend more time relaxing there. We didn’t have time to take advantage of the pool or hot tub but they looked quite enjoyable.
My sister and her family enjoyed walking around the area and the incredible dark night skies there. We were lucky to have the 2 good nights for viewing the stars.
One of the screen doors was lacking a screen which kind of made them superfluous. You can’t just leave the sliding glass door open for ventilation due to the mosquitos but this — and the lack of sheets for the futon — were the only downsides in our experience.
I would definitely consider this condo again for a return trip to Molokai.

The property was so clean (unlike our last stay on Molokai) with a beautiful view (tranquil hills and trees, not ocean view). The condo is dark though, which was a bummer. This time of year is also really buggy - lots of gnats, ants, and biting bugs. The check in was not fun - there was only one lock box that was visible and it was not the one to get our key. It was right next to the door but did not work. We happened to open the screen door and found the right lock box. The screen doors in the condo are a mess - kept falling off but we were able to put them back on. The futon couch in the living room is exceptionally uncomfortable. Also, there's only one small frying pan. Otherwise, it was clean and mostly updated. THis was a last minute trip and I was thankful to rent the condo.

Great spot! Faces the Oceanside of property, very clean and stocked with what you need for cooking. It is a retirement community but the sense of community there is really strong; made new friendships and even some networking! If you have children, pool rules might be a little uncomfortable, but we had no problems. A little grocer and beach access are also in quick walking distance, but other than that you ARE still in a remote spot
