We kindly ask that guests interested PLEASE read our entire profile before booking, as we're not for everyone. We're affordable because we think everyone should be able to enjoy what we call home, and while we welcome everyone as ohana, we find those less agrarian may find city accomodations much more suitable for their White Lotus expectations.

Faris' Forest offers a private & magical get away for your Big Island retreat. Designed for those looking for a humble eco-tourist retreat, We're located on a 3 acre working homestead between Volcano National Parks, Historic Pahoa town, and Hilo in a peaceful Ohi'a forest. Our land is home to 100's of plant varieties from exotic fruits like Cacao and Pineapple, to dozens of orchid varieties and other tropical flora. We have worked hand-in-hand with the land to create a biophilic experience in hopes of offering our guests an inspirational and energizing experience.

Accommodations are finished with a private 20' x10' raised cabin accessible by stairs, that offers 2 covered decks. Inside you will find two full bunk-beds, a small eating bar table overlooking our a yard area with two stool seats. A personal work area with/ accommodating cooler for perishables which we recommend block ice from Jhara General store in Kurtistown as it can last for days! (We do have freezer space if desired and gallon jug ice for private cooler free upon request, but please let us know in advance). There are personal clothing storage, as well as wi-fi options, though much of Hawai'i island is rural so please know internet is always subject to the use of the island. The private cabin space does have full electricity, though it is off grid so please refrain from using strong electrical draw items like coffee pots, curling irons, (High Heat draws are not usually suitable for off grid systems) etc... That said we do have a full working kitchen in the shared commons, where we are happen to show you all the ways to live off-grid, such as Dutch-ovens instead of microwaves, or how to care for cast Iorn which is the backbone of our cooking! We are happy to provide coffee italian style or french press, along with a simple breakfast of homemade sourdough & local fruit, or oatmeal & tea complementary between 7-8 a.m. every morning except for Thursdays. The commons is accessible with full accomodations within our capacity from 7a.m. -10p.m.

Full bathroom accommodations are also in the commons, but is accessible 24/7 with an outside entrance for convenience.

The Common is about 10 yards from our bunk bed bungalow, and we ask guests to treat it like a College dorm :) We turn down between 10p.m. & 7a.m. As late hours of the night, this helps with our offgrid living. Bathroom & shower are still accessible 24/7 as mentioned, but they will be without hot water and light at the times mentioned, so please use lighting we provide in each cabin for any evening needs with caution. We also have wi-fi available with the commons that extends with that we're told is great given our rural location, but most guests come to get away from these gadgets.

As a working homestead, please note that animals are present of the farm, Goats & Chickens, as well as our adopted pets; 4 very friendly farm Dogs, 3 cats, and 2 parrots. Please keep you safe distance from our goats and parrots, though we're happy to do a meet and greet when we're present, we must be present to meet them up close :) While we normally only accommodate ...
