Located about 1 hour South of Kailua-kona, once a coffee shack this tiny house has everything you need to be completely off grid. Situated on a small mac nut farm in So. Kona its a great place to get away from it all....

This was a wonderful place to stay! It was clean, comfortable, and very enjoyable. The grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the lanai very much with a beautiful view of the ocean. Dena was a most gracious hostess, very friendly, and very helpful. I would recommend this place without reservation.

Dee's farm was clean and peaceful with an amazing view. Great location to explore the South end of the big island.

Thank you Dee for sharing your beautiful rental. The house was super clean upon arrival and far exceeded our expectations. The screened in Lanaii was such a wonderful spot to watch the gorgeous sunsets. The fresh mango salsa we made with fruit straight from the tree was the best we ever tasted! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the location for us was perfect. Thanks for the tip on the beach, best one on the island!

Dee’s Farm House is a great place to enjoy your time in Hawai’i away from the crowds and congestion of the more touristy areas between Kailua-Kona and Captain Cook. The accommodation was about what we expected-- a small unique, and basic house in the midst of semi-rural countryside on the southwest side of the island of Hawai’i. Nearby are small farms growing coffee, macadamia nuts, avocados and oranges. We enjoyed the easy access to fresh fruits and vegetables, as there are small stands all around the area. We really enjoyed the lanai (screen porch) with views ranging from the beautiful tropical gardens in the yard to a 120-degree view of the ocean a couple of miles away. The nearby “tree-house” is an extra bedroom connected to the main house along its deck. The house itself is abit quirky, sits up on stilts, and as expected, is completely off-the-grid. For modern city folks that could mean basic, slower, internet (not super-fast), partial cellphone coverage (one-bar), and the need to conserve electricity if there has been a cloudy stretch of weather; or conserve wash and shower water if it has not been raining much. (They provide drinking water via a 5-gallon dispenser in the house.) If you’re up for staying in a unique home in a semi-rural area and/or have lived off-the-grid before, you’ll probably fit right in. The home is located near the “end of the road” Miloli’i fishing village, and we could hear the surf pounding the rocks along the shore. The roosters start the day by crowing around 5 am, so if you are a light sleeper, you may get an earlier than usual start to your days. Dee provided us with great travel advice, including how to access a nearby beach that is a hidden gem. The renter should know that this home is a 40-minute drive from most Captain Cook tourist activities, and an hour’s drive to the Kona area, but it's also an hour closer to Volcano National Park than those main tourist areas.

We had a lovely stay at Dee’s place. The house is cozy and cute. Our daughter loved being in the treehouse. The house has all the basics and has beautiful views of the ocean. We also enjoyed giving our cooking scraps to to Dee’s chickens. We loved exploring the area and appreciated Dee’s suggestions.
Our only feedback is this….
The listing says Captain Cook, but it is really about 20 mins south of the town. Not knowing the Big Island very well, this surprised us and caused a quick scramble to re-think our activities. We changed plans and focused our visit to areas south and the volcano area. It would help other visitors to clarify this.
We would also suggest that Dee add some lighting to the bedroom area. There are no lights in the main bedroom so we ended up using our phones and flashlights to read in the evening.
Overall, the house is great and we loved exploring the area. We found road side stands selling fresh fruit and delicious homemade bread. We hiked all over, explored many beaches (ask Dee for insider info), and we visited Volcanoes Natl Park. A great trip. Thank you Dee!

We enjoyed our stay on this property. It is cozy, but workable for a few adults. Be forewarned that you will need to bring your own drinking water. You will be rewarded with a view of the ocean and the sounds of wildlife. Geckos joined us on the walkway between the main house & tree house. Also, free range roosters start the day early. The location seemed to be about right for a serene setting between Captain Cook and Oceanview. Plenty of snorkeling nearby as well as coffee farms and a National Historical Park. We'd stay again.
