vrKCV - The Kona Hideaway at Kona Onenalo No. 11, Professionally Managed by Kona Coast Vacations
The Kona Hideaway is a private oceanfront Hawaiian villa, located in the exclusive gated community of Kona Onenalo, a 2+ acre lush oceanfront property with only 12 stand-alone villas adjacent to La'aloa (Very Sacred) Bay. Purchased in 2021 by California-based couple, attorney Robert Millar and Italian actor and designer Mario Guariso, overall renovations and interior design were completed in January 2022 to provide the couple and their guests a sophisticated part-time oceanfront retreat, and a welcome escape from their busy lives on the mainland.
Step through the gates and relax into the pristine tropical landscaping surrounding the 3- bedroom, 3 bath midcentury-modern Polynesian-inspired home. The extra-large lanai doors on both levels open the living spaces completely to the garden and ocean; the rolling waves and tropical birds lull you to sleep and are the first sounds you hear in the morning.
The gracious open floor plan, soaring two-story ceilings, and floor to ceiling sliders and windows allow for year-round indoor/outdoor tropical living. This 2000 square foot home has two lanais, a large gourmet kitchen, reserved parking for two vehicles, outdoor shower, full-size laundry, and is conveniently located just inside the gates at Kona Onenalo making it easy to transfer luggage and groceries into this Hawaiian hideaway.
The kitchen is equipped with great appliances, fixtures and water filtration, ideal for cooking and entertaining. Wifi, telephone, cable and smart TVs are provided for your convenience. The Kona Hideaway benefits from the ocean breeze cross-ventilation to keep it naturally cool in traditional Polynesian style; yet the villa is also equipped with ceiling fans and whisper-quiet air conditioning throughout, which can be separately controlled in each bedroom and living areas for maximum comfort.
The primary suite features stunning ocean, lawn and garden views, a private lanai, Cal-king bed, flatscreen TV, large closet, double bath vanity and two showers. The guest suite features a king bed (or convertible twins), desk and full bath en-suite. Third guest bedroom is located on the first floor, off the main living area, and features a queen bed, reading chair, desk and peekaboo views of the ocean.
One highlight of The Kona Hideaway is that both lanais face White Sands Beach (also known as Magic Sands Beach), a local favorite for body surfing, swimming, and beach volleyball where you can also enjoy breakfast, coffee, lunch and snacks beach side at the Beach Shack. Magic Beach Grill features local ingredients on seasonal brunch and dinner menus, all just a short 5-minute walk.
The Kona Hideaway overlooks a popular snorkel and shore diving spot known as “Mile Marker 4” at La'aloa Bay. Open the gate at the end of the lawn into the lava rocks seashore and you will find scores of reef fish, including schools of yellow tang, puffer fish, sea turtles and expansive lava tunnels with skylights that are a thrill to explore. The villa is also less than a mile from the popular Kahalu'u Beach Park, where tide pools make for easy snorkeling, and local surf instructors are available for lessons.
The village of Kailua-Kona is a short 3 miles North of The Kona Hideaway while Keauhou Shopping Center and Kona Country Club are less than 2 miles South of the property. The Kona ...

Great house in a good location. The kitchen is well stocked and the little welcome cooler of goodies, including a jar of multiple spices was a great touch! Emailed communication was clear and concise and we had no issues following the directions to the house. The house is comfortable with plenty of outdoor seating options as well.

The condo was wonderful. We really appreciated the air conditioning during our stay. The kids loved the pool, the views were spectacular. We could hear the traffic on the road but it did not impact our sleeping. We would definitely stay here again.

Very happy overall. The only issue we had was that the A/C did not work well in one guest room on Xmas eve but they came to fix it the next day.

This home does exactly what it says in the description. It was so close to the best snorkeling on the island and an amazing Restuarant/bar. A bus stopped righted outside if you don't want to drive and helps make mist places easily accessible.
The entrance gate could be noisy but didn't spoil anything for us.
We will definitely be looking at booking again very soon.

My immediate family plus in-laws spent a wonderful week here. Place had everything we needed to be comfortable. The views, sounds, and accommodations were all wonderful. The listing was very accurate and having the support of Kona Coast was icing on the cake. We will absolutely be back!

We enjoyed our morning coffee on the lanai looking at the beautiful view. You can go through the locked gate to the ocean/lava rocks all tho difficult entry to go snorkeling. Easy access to downtown. The house is close to the front entrance gate and so there is a good amount of street noise as well as noise from the gate opening and closing, but we all got use to it. A/C worked well. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need. Wish the pool was open longer than 30 minutes after sunset. Amazing sunsets from the pool area. Overall, a wonderful house.
