Let me start off with Hanalei Bay Resort is amazingand we would stay again, just likely not in this unit. From the front desk to the transporters, everyone was very friendly. The resort amenities are wonderful. With a short walk or golf cart ride down to Puu Poa beach, we felt so fortunate to be able to enjoy Hanalei Bay so close. We stayed 3 nights and the extra resort fees were appx $220.
We drove in from Lihue around 10PM. Tired from the full day of traveling, we were excited to arrive and relax. Unfortunately, we were greeted by over 20+ beetle bugs. It was unnerving as they were in the loft area where we sleep. We started squashing them immediately, but then would find a couple more pop up. We ended up busting out the vacuum to suck them up whenever we saw them pop up. We get it, Garden Island, bugs are going to be around. They seemed harmless, but it just did not feel right to have to be on high alert, bug control the moment we got in. The bugs appeared daily, averaging 3-5 during our 3 night stay. We did reach out to Vacasa night one and they asked if I wanted them to send someone, but did not provide clarfication as to what would be done, so we declined. Washer/dryer was not optimal as it leaks if you load too much. The TV did not work, stating insufficient power. Our local rep did reach out and offer to come out, but we declined as TV was not priority. No closet/hangers, very inconvenient!
Biggest pros: Comfy bed, well stocked kitchen and the lanai view!

The grounds at Hanalei Bay Resort are exceptionally well kept and delightful!! The pool and hot tub are amazing. The condo can use a table for dining on the lanai and bedside lamps with usp ports but the place was clean otherwise. The bed is comfortable but watch your head on the very low supporting beam upstairs!! I would stay at Hanalei Bay Resort again to be sure but select a different condo. This condo is near the pool which is convenient too. Enjoy your trip to Princeville!!

The pool and hot tub are fabulous! We loved this resort. The condo had a great view, but the layout was a bit funky. However, it suited our needs. (The loft bedroom had a low beam on one side.). The beach was terrific and the pathway was so tropical. We enjoyed the walk, but if you don’t like steep climbs, take the shuttle. The staff here are very welcoming and respond quickly to any requests. We would definitely stay at Hanalei Bay Resort again.

The property is very nice with amenities to keep a couple busy. The room itself could use some updating. The view over the pool to the mountains was awesome.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. We found the place clean and tidy and everything exactly as it is in pictures. So appreciated the little extras on hand, like coffee filters and local goodies to get us started, the beach chairs and umbrella, and other things. The resort itself was unforgettable and has spoiled us for staying anywhere else. The pool and the beach were both awesome! Never went down to the beach without seeing a sea turtle. The walk to the beach was along a beautiful stream loaded with tropical flowers, and the golf cart rides back up at dusk were fun. Sunrises slowly warming up Hanalei Bay from the room lanai were spectacular. The sunsets were breathtaking. I can't say enough good things about our stay and everyone we interacted with. The luxury of a resort with a spacious and well-equipped home base.

This was a nice resort. The grounds were clean. Beach was nice. But not for anyone with mobility issues. Beautiful view from this unit. Bathroom a bit old.

When we arrived there were roach traps on the floor in the kitchen. Over the duration of the week, we were surprised multiple times by *very* large roaches throughout the unit, and came to discover a large collection of pesticides and other spot-treatments for roaches. I get that Hawaii has roaches, but given how many we found, this appears to be a larger issue in need of an exterminator and professional treatment.

This unit has an absolutely awesome view from the large lanai!! It was so welcoming to have a card and gifts of chocolates, cookies with several leis when we arrived from our host! This resort advertised as being a premier resort, but for the hefty nightly rate staying at this property, I feel most people coming to this condo unit would expect it to be very clean and have certain things like a modern TV allowing Netflix and Hulu options! The lanai needed to be swept even though there was a broom left out on it. There is no dining furniture to eat out on the lanai, like I saw in adjacent units. The unit could use a new paint job! The king size bed was wonderful and we slept very comfortable however since the bed was in the loft, a portion of the ceiling was too low over the bed and was a problem to be under when getting in and out of the bed, and we hit our heads a couple of times until we got used to ducking low enough! The curtains were dusty/dirty and coming down in certain areas! The railing coming down the stairwell was a bit shaky! The kitchen refrigerator had dirty looking areas on the outside of it and was old and looked filthy underneath it on the floor! I find it very insulting to a guest to have a place be deceiving from photos making a place look better then it actually is when you check into the unit! I’m sure that we are not the only guest who has complained about these things, yet each guest has to experience the same thing when an owner doesn’t make sure that everything is up to par! Another note about this unit is the shower pressure is very low and shower knob is difficult to adjust! The clothes dryer was a challenge to operate! There is no clothes closet, and no racks to hang clothes on so we had to put everything in drawers or operate out of our luggage! The main overhead kitchen light was burned out when we arrived, so we had to cook our food in low light from light of the bathroom for 2 days until maintenance came in to replace the bulbs which inconvenienced us to be at the condo for them to come and look into the matter! Of course since Kauai has a lot of chickens, there were many roosters crowing very early in the morning, so be sure and bring your ear plugs like we knew to do! I talked with someone who works at the Hanalei Bay Resort and they shared with me that Vacasa doesn't really have a good reputation there with the properties that they represent at the Hanalei Bay Resort! We will not stay here again!
