Have stayed at other Hanalei Bay Resort over a 30 year span. This unit needs updating and better housekeeping. Remotes wouldn’t turn on tv, many other issues. We have used Vacasa before with great results. This unit below standard. Similarly HBR itself is great, but 7302 was not up to vacasa or HBR standard.

We loved the view form the condo and space. We did not like the fact all the appliances were old and there was only one small bathroom for 3 beds

The view was perfect. The condo was clean and, though outdated, furnished fine. The bed was comfortable.
The problems were that Hanalei Bay Resort no longer offers baggage storage, one of the big selling points for our reservation and we had no knowledge of this change.
Next, the condo is outdated so some of the furniture is falling apart - cabinet doors falling off or secured to stay closed with zip ties. The kitchen cabinets don't close properly and the design has the drawers crossing so you keep banging them together when you open them.
We understand the tropics and bugs, trust us, but we were completely infested with termites on our second and fifth nights - on the carpets, the fabric furniture, the beds, everywhere. Nothing was done about this while we were there, save for one text from Vacasa asking if we knew if they were termites or cockroaches and Hanalei Bay Resort delivered us a can of Raid when we contacted them. (We were subsequently in contact with Vacasa and we did come to an understanding about this.) But, either the owner, Vacasa or Hanalei Bay Resort should be on a rotating exterminating plan (we do this in Georgia for the same type of termites) and we should not have had to experience this.
The amenities of "beach chairs" are two stadium chairs, not beach chairs, and one almost dry rotted through WalMart umbrella. There were numerous toys, but we did not look at those. Either offer proper beach items or don't bother with them at all.
We would not rent at Hanalei Bay Resort again and we were left with a very negative impression of Vacasa and would certainly rent with other companies first. (Just point of fact, we have rented all over the Caribbean and U.S. so we do have comparisons).

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights.
Pros: great view from the deck and I really enjoyed the view from the bed also. Condo has AC and is spacious. There are lots of decent looking pots and pans for people who wants to cook. Shower pressure is good. Towels and linens are of reasonably good quality.
Cons:
1. Musty living room. We noticed that as soon as we stepped in but knowing that the place was carpeted and that humidity could be an issue in Hawaii and perhaps no one was staying there before us, we assumed that if we turned on the fan and opened the doors, that unpleasant smell would go away. It did a little but we can smell it every time we walked in. Others may be less bothered by it though. Thankfully, that was mostly limited to the living room. The bedroom was fine.
2. We can never get comfortable with the AC in the bedroom. No matter what setting we did - the “swing”, the “comfort “, adjusting fan speed to low or auto etc, it never quit blowing onto the bed and us, making it rather unpleasant and uncomfortable. Having AC was nice but our sleep was not the best because of that issue.
3. The sink in the bathroom barely drained as the stopper was stuck, as in glued or broken, with 1mm opening to drain. The entire fixture also moved when you used the hot or cold water handles. Pretty unbecoming.
Overall, the place and furnishings are quite dated but we sort of expected that before we booked ( a last minute trip). However, the cons above were a disappointment.
For a couple, it is a lot of space but not necessarily where you want to spend a lot of time inside. Outside, there are 2 nice teak tables and chairs. Great for large group but not that comfortable to sit on after a while. Still they are nice looking and we appreciate having them.
I know Vacasa just took over the management and perhaps this review would help them to correct some of the issues we encountered for the next guest.
