Great location, not too far from town but secluded enough for a lovely get away. beautiful scenery all around.

Group of 6 women stayed for 11 nights competing in an outrigger canoe event. Our hosts, Eddie and Aldine were fantastic, so friendly and accomodating, 100 out of 100. Nothing was too much trouble and they certainly went the extra mile. Views are amazing and an easy 20 minute drive to Hilo township. We would definitely recommend.

This house was perfect for the group of six. The house is open and welcoming, with one huge bedroom plus two smaller ones. The living room and kitchen are functional and user friendly. There are two terraces, one big and accommodating six, the other small, good for contemplation by one or two. The outside is perfect, including the waterfall and the lake below it.

It sounds odd to say, but of all the things we did on our beautiful Hawaii vacation, I will remember this VRBO the most. The location is absolutely gorgeous! We arrived at night, so imagine our surprise the next morning to find a stunning view from the back porch and a waterfall below the back yard. The hosts are very friendly and attentive and help you with any needs and even extras.
This is not your typical VRBO. It's not an impersonal condo unit or a house on a neighborhood street. The cabin-like house is up a dirt road and off by itself on a secluded farm. The hosts are on-site and always available to help. It has a few lighting issues, but it is clean and bug-free. One drawback is that the sixth bed is a fold out and does not have a room of it's own, so it is difficult for an adult to use. There is no air conditioning or wi-fi. We just left the windows open and enjoyed the cool air and sounds of nature. The cell service is good enough to run a hot-spot if needed.
If you like the outdoors and are looking for the most unique and beautiful place you've ever stayed, than I would suggest this for you.

Oh my gosh, this house and grounds are truly beautiful. All is as they say it is..... The only changes I might suggest are a bit larger eating table as we were crowded with 6. And, the one other thing was that with the light outside, it was difficult to watch daytime television.........which is only needed for sporting events of course...........suggest blinds that pull down on the two windows behind the tv. When we do visit the big Island again, we will want to stay here when in Hilo.

This place was great. Just what we were looking for.
The waterfall in the back yard was a nice surprise.
Loved the relatively close proximity to downtown Hilo.
Only complaint was for the birds outside the bedroom window, if we could put a muzzle on them at night that would be great... Haha.

We loved this house with the sound of the waterfall and frogs everybody night. Great view of the stars, and everything we needed. Gift basket, washer dryer, plenty of bed space, we even put the car in the garage during the tropical storm. Lovely secluded location. Best vacation house ever!

Awesome views, clean, off grid living, beautiful wood beams, and quiet. They also had a telescope to see the stars. The stars are beautiful because the city lights are far away. They even had a rice cooker and blender. Lots of towels and extra blankets. They have a washer dryer so you don't have to over pack. Hilo town is about 10 minutes away. Their welcoming package was the cherry on top.

This place is outstandingly beautiful. With its rich overtones of green brushes and trees surrounding the home, there is a balance between relaxation and revitalization. Call it what you will, a confluence of grandeur and perseverance, this place is no less than pure awesomeness. Tucked away in the Onomea Farms on a 20 acre lot rests a little (okay not so little) home of pure happiness. Yes there is a waterfall. Yes, they have tiki torches. Yes, no wifi (and that is a good thing). Screw the Turtle Bay Resort or the Four Seasons, this my friends is the five star you've been waiting. No butlers here, no waiting staff or concierge and in truth, you'll be glad you didn't stay at the Ritz or Fairmont Orchid. Did our family enjoy the Hilo outings? Yes. Did we enjoy the volcano tour? Of course we did. But knowing in the back of our minds, we looked forward to returning home (for a week any way). Oh we cooked everyday there (though we loved Ken's Pancake House). Stopping at the local KTA gave us pure enjoyment as we searched for the best spam musubi or poke. No Wholefoods here, KTA has everything. The view from home (and yes I call it home) feels like we stopped in time. Taking it all in no less. And I for one, have lots of time to soak in.

We stayed 4 nights in this wonderful house and it was a pity that we could not stay longer. Our 3 sons (14, 17, 19) and we enjoyed this very special place above Hilo with great sunrises in the morning, beautiful (slightly hidden) views to Mauna Kea, great views to Hilo Bay at night. There is a "private" waterfall right next to the house with very relaxing sounds. The sound of the tree frogs is special but we even enjoyed that. This property is just perfectly prepared and breakfast outside was one of the highlights for our family. Lots of things to see in close distance (Volcano National Park, Akaka-Falls, Tropical Botanical Garden, Rainbow Falls. We saw Turtles and white spottet rays on the coconut Island and enjoyed to swim in the ocean there. It was a pity that because of those many things to see, we could not spend more time on this property. We would definitely come back, if Germany would not be so far from Hawaii. Thank you so much, Beth and Kevin for the wonderful flowers and welcome basket and that you have shared this place with us! Klaus and family

We decided to rent a home for this trip since it was a family affair. We specifically wanted to come stay on the Hilo side due to its greener and lush atmosphere. While thumbing through the list of houses to rent, this little jewel came across my path. My friend Rick who was helping me find places, stopped dead in his tracks and said this is the one I should rent to spend time with my family.
Best decision made! Nestled away in the midst of a macadamia farm, it was a so private, serene and peaceful. The view of the bay from the patio is just mesmerizing while the sound of the waterfall and the Coqui frogs at night felt as if the natural habitat around sings in concert to welcome you to the environment.
The welcome basket with goodies was a pleasant surprise. While the open concept of the home allowed for everyone to be in incommunicado with each other, the outside grounds had ample lush green grass for kids to run around and enjoy. We definitely made memories of our family vacation at this little private paradise. We definitely hope to return again for another family event. After showing pictures and sharing our experiences on our return, a co-worker stated it was exactly what she would like to experience with her family. So, there you go Keith and Beth, future renters for next summer.
Ps. Thank you Keith for the fresh pineapple right off the plant.

We had breakfast on the front porch while we listened to the waterfall and birds, breath in the clean tropical mountain air, viewed the beautiful blue ocean, and laughed loudly in our privacy. My husband and I stayed in the Ohana which gave us lots of privacy. Our Children enjoyed the luxury of the main house which is just beautiful with all the amenities of a modern home but the peace and beauty of the island environment. the macadamia trees, the gokey frogs, etc were a part of the great experience, especially for our grandson. We absolutely loved this place and would recommend it 100%!

We absolutely loved this place! The house itself is so open and roomy and had everything we needed to make our stay so enjoyable. And the view is absolutely amazing-the pictures don't do it justice. We loved spending our evenings sitting on the back deck enjoying the view and listening to the incredible waterfall. It truly is a special place that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Hilo.
