Tropical Studio Apartment!

Listing was inaccurate, no washer available and no oven. I was compensated for the lack of a washer. I was awakened by loud footsteps heard fromthe upstairs room, beginning at 10:30 pm, every night. The ceiling sounded like it was weak. Friendly owners and beautiful yard

Clean and the amenities are well covered and thought out. What you might not have thought of they probably have. Masks for snorkeling, beach chairs and foam noodles. I didn’t recall that there is not a stove but there was a nice bbq that we cooked the Korean shortribs we bought at KTA. We bought things we shouldn’t have but because we forgot there was no way kitchen in the unit but we had lots of fun sitting on the porch eating papayas and having friendly geckos all around. Beautiful gardens. And close to many things.

Kepi is an amazing host! Such a clean, relaxing stay in her own rainforest! Spectacular!!!

Host was very welcoming! Great little place to stay! I will say though some of the amenities that were listed in the listing for the place are not in the room; oven, laundry. Overall communication was good and the overall experience was well worth it.

Quaint room with comfy bed, dishes, utensils, towels, and bug spray. Friendly hosts who made beautiful paintings & posted them all around the room. Also have TV with free Netflix access, free parking on gravel lot, and personalized surfboard welcome sign. About a 20-min from national park.

The room was comfortable and clean. Checkin/checkout was contactless and easy. Outside grounds were spartan (no common areas). Great budget minded place to stay.

Bed not comfortable There was chirping all night, some type of sound effect thing they have.Neighbor was loud. We could hear her talking through the walls. Someone above us walking in the middle of the night. It was so loud. It smelled weird like dog or something. Service was terrible even with the WiFi. Over all it is an okay place to stay. I think it’s okay for the price, but I think the bed and the noises could have been avoided. The host was nice and was going to let us do an early check in which was nice of her. We ended up keeping ourselves busy until it was time to check in.

It had a neat tree house feel and a magical atmosphere. I really loved how it felt like going into a secret garden. If you’re not looking for it, you can almost miss it from the road because of the beautiful plants that shelter it from the road. It was a peaceful stay.

Decent stay for one person, 1-2 nights . A bit dated, but clean. Very quiet neighborhood but very dark at night.

What a beautiful sanctuary. What staying a night in Hawaii should feel like. Meditating sounds of frogs through the night and Geckos sunbathing in the morning sun. We’ll be back! Hosts were friendly and welcoming and I give this place a 10!

We had everything we needed. Could use a hangin closet. Loved that there was coffee! Thank you. Beautiful grounds. Host are very helpful and have thought of every amenity! We would stay again!

Tucked away in a great neighborhood, close enough to Hilo for ease of travel while far enough to feel secluded. Watching the sunrise every morning with the birds singing was a treat. The lack of AC would be unbearable during the day, but who stays in their room during the day on vacation anyway? Perfectly comfortable to sleep at night with windows open and fan on..

Great place, exactly as advertised.. they had clear check in instructions, and the internet was surprisingly fast. The homeowners were also kind enough to give me some Lilikoi grown in their garden. no complaints.

It was a fantastic location. The only thing I would say is that there should be a designated smoking area away from building. With windows open it is hard to not breathe it when right below your window. The homey touches were wonderful.

Great hosts! Gorgeous garden. We enjoyed the lanai. A central location where we could visit many island attractions.

Property was great view great to be at great to stay at. It was very nice overall.

We used the studio rental as a "home base" as we explored the island. It was clean and quiet.

Wonderful studio for a stand alone trip or as an add-on to your group staying in the apartment next door! Comfortable and clean. Perfect!

Enjoyed our stay

It was an absolute joy staying here. The property was like a zen garden. The neighborhood was very peaceful and it was super easy to find the place. ( I found it in the dead of night during a rain shower) Most everything you need is provided, slow cooker, silverware of all varieties, cups and mugs, small fridge, soap and shampoo, cutting board and butcher knife and other convinces. The bed was super comfortable if you like soft which I do. The outside porch was a great place to eat and do yoga but you have a table and enough room inside the cozy studio to do the same. I had lots of company for my meals as well although they kept tryimg to sell me GEICO insurance (just kidding)The staff was friendly and has lots of insight into the area with many connections to help make the most of your stay. What else can I say this place was lovely and I am most certainly going to stay here again. Please definitely consider staying here if not in this unit then one of there other many units on the property.

There's no AC, so make sure you don't mind the heat. Instructions were clear and check-in was easy. It's not exactly an "apartment" per se but more like a small room with an en suite bathroom. There was a cockroach in the bed the first night but it was dead already, and Hawaii is known for having bugs. Hosts were friendly, but not super responsive.

A simple, clean studio with many of the amenities available during our one week stay. Hilo was only 20 min. away, so the location was not a challenge. With only a need of a place to sleep and shower, this unit was perfectly adequate for us in comfort, value and cost. We didn’t know our studio was in a complex with multiple connecting units in a 3-story building. Typical of Hawaiʻi homes, the walls are not double sided so you’ll hear the sounds through the walls and floors (or ceiling). We missed the notation in the listing that the studio was upstairs on the 2d level, so being disabled, I had to be very careful climbing the stairs. There was also mention of “laundry, washing machine 6 a load.” There was none onsite. There was mention of a deadbolt. There was none. We were fortunate to meet Kepi and Jim when we arrived. Checkin and checkout were easy. We would return again to this site should we visit Hawaiʻi Island again.

The hosts made an effort to make this place special and it shows. Cute garden area with light lights, quaint decor, etc. We were greeted with the sound of the frogs singing in the adorable garden! Definitely would recommend!!!

Great place in a gorgeous location!

The owners Jim & Kepi are super nice & very helpful. The property is very safe. Parking is easy & very safe. The studio is on the 2nd floor of a noisy 3 story apt building. The noise from the neighbors is extremely annoying. You can hear every cough, every word, every fart, every step, the ceiling is squeaky & creaky when walked on from above. One downstairs neighbor talked outside for three straight nights while cracking beers, so annoying; another coughed constantly. The noise at night from the frogs is overwhelming.. which wouldn’t be so bad but the unit has no a/c so the windows HAVE to be left open all night. If you can suck it up & wear earplugs or headphones.. the price vs value is reasonable. If noise bothers you as it does my sensitive ears, this is definitely not a good choice. Again, the owners are GREAT, they live onsite & aren’t intrusive at all. The nearby market on Sunday’s was a nice bonus!

The property was beautiful and the room had everything you could possibly need. The hosts were warm and welcoming and so very kind we are definitely coming back!!!

This was an ideal location for us and close to where we wanted to go on the Big Island. The room was compact and had everything we needed. The property is charming and was especially amazing at night with laser lights twinkling all over the gardens. Plenty of off road parking was a nice bonus. Would definitely recommend to others!

Stayed in this lovey studio for two nights to visit the Hilo side of the island. Location was great for going into Hilo for supplies, and it also made a great home base to visit Mauna Kea and Hawaii Volcanos National Park. The studio itself had everything we needed for our two nights. We enjoyed sitting outside on the lanai at night to enjoy the cool night air. You'll also want to explore the property grounds as it feels like you are in a jungle parades during the day, and a magical land at night with the laser lights.Only cons:No AC and coqui frogs are loud at night and roosters start crowing around 3:00 a.m. Bring earplugs.Pillows were very flat so we woke up with sore necks.

We had an amazing stay at this VRBO! The location was perfect—just outside of Hilo, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere while still being close to everything we needed. It was the ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploring.The owners were absolutely lovely and a pleasure to talk to. They made us feel so welcome from the start, even greeting us with a cute surfboard welcome sign. It was such a thoughtful touch. They also gave us great recommendations on local activities and informed us about the erupting volcano—something we hadn’t been aware of. Seeing the eruption ended up being the highlight of our trip. It was a true bucket list experience we’ll never forget!The room was spotless and well-maintained, providing everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Parking was easy and convenient, which was a huge plus. They even provided snorkeling gear and beach equipment, saving us the hassle of renting and making our beach days even better.This place truly made our vacation. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-located stay in the area!

This is the cutest studio apartment ever! Close to Hilo & everything on the east side of the island. Very clean, comfortable bed, so quiet at night. I would stay here again in a heartbeat

Amazing fun property and hosts!

A lovely place to stay! We vacation at the Big Island twice a year and always stay with Kepi and Jim. They are 100% the best hosts! There is a number of different bungalows to choose from; studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom. Always clean and reasonably priced. Lovely grounds and close to everything.

We hope to return again…Kepi & Jim are wonderful hosts. The tropical studio was perfect. Mahalo

Property was super cute and cozy. Waking up to the beautiful trees and birds was so nice. Owners were also super sweet when we chatted with them! Would recommend.

My adult daughter and i stayed 5 nights, and were impressed with the location, amenities and host. It was a nice place to retire after a long day out and about.

The host (Kepi and Jim) made us feel very welcomed, they really go above and beyond for their hosts and that really made the difference. I would 10/10 recommend.

The property was beautiful. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The owners are on site at property and two of the nicest people we have met. This is absolutely the place to go. Located close to everything.

Studio unit, part of a 4 unit complex on beautiful and lushly landscaped property within 10 miles of Hilo Airport and 20 miles to Volcano National Park. Lovely tropical bird and frog sounds. Kepi was friendly and engaging and helpful, and painted colorful paintings on all the walls.

Loved everything about our stay...especially the paintings and the sculpted garden.

Good stay, would book again if in the area. Few snafus with communication and some housekeeping issues but they were resolved quickly.

Beautiful villa in Hilo, we came for world paddling sprints and the location of this property was ideal for our needs. The property had everything one needed compact for two people and we enjoyed Netflix binging in the evening. Our host Kepi was a beautiful knowledgeable lady who made us most welcome. Great start

Great place to stay, safe and easy to get to from Hilo Airport. Loved the scenery around the place, I would recommend staying at this place!

Clean, comfortable. The owner is friendly but not intrusive. The landscaping is amazing! Just what we needed, close to our family who live in the area, plenty to explore on this side of the island. We didn’t use the mini kitchen but it was there if we needed (microwave, blender, rice cooker, etc). Great value for the price!

This was a little piece of heaven in a jungle setting. Our little room was perfect for the two of us. The manager Leanne was super responsive to my emails. I would totally recommend this place and stay here again.

We truly enjoyed our short stay at this property! It’s tucked away just outside of Hilo but still close enough to everything we wanted to see and do.
