Alii Drive And Kona Sunsets
Kailua Kona vacation rentals are a natural choice when you want west Big Island sunshine, ocean views, walkable dining and easy access to beaches. Many condos are set along or near Alii Drive, with lanais, pools, barbecue areas and sunset views that make the area feel relaxed without being far from restaurants, shops and Kailua Pier.
This part of Kona is especially convenient if you want a mix of beach time, boat tours, snorkeling and casual evenings in town. You can spend the morning near the water, head out for a Big Island activity in the afternoon, and still be close to dinner without a long return drive.
Kailua Kona is one of the Big Island’s most popular vacation rental areas because it keeps beaches, dining, shopping and ocean tours close together. Vacation rentals here range from simple one-bedroom condos to larger oceanfront homes, so the area can fit couples, families and longer visits.
The setting also gives you a lot of flexibility. Choose a condo close to town if you want to walk to restaurants and Kailua Pier, or look farther south along Alii Drive for quieter condo communities near surf spots, small beaches and sunset viewpoints.
South of town, Kahaluu Beach Park is one of the best-known snorkeling beaches in the Kailua Kona area. Families often like this side of town because beaches, surf schools, grocery stops and condo communities are all close by.
Closer to the village, Kamakahonu Beach, Hulihee Palace and Ahuena Heiau add history and an easy waterfront walk to a Kona vacation. For ocean activities, related options include Big Island snorkeling tours, manta ray snorkel tours and Big Island boat tours.
Look closely at location before booking. Some Kailua Kona rentals are close to shops and restaurants, while others are farther south near beaches and quieter condo communities. Oceanfront does not always mean swimmable water directly in front, so check the map, photos and beach access if swimming is a priority.
