Located in the upscale Kamilo at Mauna Lani development, our spacious and nicely decorated home has only recently been rented out. The home is fully appointed with linens, beach towels and kitchen items, and it is walking distance to a full-service grocery store and an array of restaurants, along with the 5-star Fairmont Orchid hotel and beach. The home feels very private, is extremely quiet and is surrounded with lush greenery and pretty views.
***IMPORTANT: Our location our house within Kamilo is VERY desirable -- close to the pool and recreation center. Kamilo is very large so this is a major plus that you will truly appreciate upon arrival, especially if you are traveling with kids.**
Two large master suite bedrooms each have their own extra large bathrooms with tub and shower. Third and fourth bedroom share another large bathroom with dual vanity. There is another separate half bathroom adjacent to kitchen. All bedrooms have sliding glass doors for easy outdoor access and views. Wi-Fi, cable TV, DVD players and two TVs also furnish the house.
Within Kamilo itself, which is a low-density develoment comprising luxury homes in the Mauna Lani Resort, you will find a gorgeous recreation center with two pools — one a sprawling family pool, the other a stunning lap pool, along with a fully equipped gym, an outdoor kitchen, and a large grass area ideal for playing with kids.
We have a wonderful property manager locally who is also very handy in case questions or issues arise.

Our family of 8 with age range from 12 to 88 years were quite happy with Carol's well designed home. The lovely outdoor patio, well equipped kitchen, close proximity to 2 swimming pools with hot tubs and the responsiveness of owner & property manager made our stay most enjoyable.
Great house in great location. Had everything needed for two families, 8 of us total. Just a couple of minute walk to pool and fitness facility. Grocery store is a few minutes drive down the road and multiple beaches are within 5 minutes or less by car. We most enjoyed the beach club and black sands beach just to the south. Some in the group played golf, courses are in immaculate condition. Kitchen was well equipped. We did Thanksgiving dinner and many other meals and all worked great. Great outdoor space, great indoor space, I would recommend this house.
I've thought long and hard about this review. Let me start by saying that Carol, the owner, is very responsive to issues, but they don't necessarily get resolved quickly. Overall, our stay was good, not great. We reported lack of hot water in upstairs bathroom on our first morning. Property manager came by quickly but it took until Thursday to have hot water upstairs. Oven panel has to be reset constantly for use. Fortunately I have the same oven, so it was easy for me but super frustrating. Stove top also frustrating but with instruction book in hand manageable. TV in bedroom wouldn't work. Property manager fixed it on Thursday but neglected to tell us that the TV had to be turned on manually at the back. Also had difficulty water flow to new washer. Plumber came by with manager on Thursday and resolved that issue for us. Beds are really comfy but the linens are too small for the king sized beds. Constantly having to attempt to tuck them in overnight. Don't want to sleep on crumpled fitted sheets and a bare mattress. Annoying. On the good side, the house is very well equipped. Plenty of spices and supplies in the fridge and pantry. Pool and gym are less than 10 houses away and are great. Landscaping is gorgeous and the neighborhood is quiet but friendly. Beach Club is the bomb. You'll have to lurk for chairs and shade but turn over is pretty quick. Restaurant and bar are great. Beach and water are amazing. Lovely walk to Fish Ponds and Lava Tubes.
Lets start with the positives, this property has a great layout for the 8 people we had stay. 1 master bedroom with king bed with ensuite downstairs for older or people with mobility issues, another 2 bedrooms down stairs with joining bathroom was perfect for mom, dad & 2 young kids, 1 upstairs bedroom with king bed & ensuite was perfect for 3rd couple with no kids. The property is in a gated community with awesome community pool, hot tubs & gym. Convenient location to grocery store & shops. The downside to the property is the iron was missing & it took 6 days of our 7 day vacation for it to arrive, even though it was clearly communicated to the owner on day 1. Also, the ice maker was completely frozen & inoperable until we thawed it out & got it running, but it was still awful slow. The washing machine didn’t work until the maintenance personnel stopped by on the 6th day to fix it, again the property owner was notified on day 1 of this condition. The grill was filthy & unusable until it was cleaned by management personnel on day 6. I haven’t stayed in a lot of VRBO properties, but I did feel this property was not well maintained & many of the home appliances were either inoperable or very confusing to use to include the stove top. For the amount of money paid, this should have been a better experience, but if u can put up with the issues with the amenities of the property, its not bad.
Beautiful
This house was perfect for our family of 8 with lots of room for all of us to relax and enjoy our vacation. The host and property manager were very accommodating and very quick to answer any questions we had. The house had everything we needed including a bbq, boogie boards, beach chairs/ umbrella. Access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club was a huge plus. We really liked the restaurant there and the snorkeling was amazing. The house was very close (10 min drive) to the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours site. It was also very close (10 min walk) to the Hawaii Loa Luau at the Fairmont Orchid Resort. Both are highly recommended! This was truly a magical vacation to the Big Island. Thank you!
Convenient
Everything was exactly the way it was described, or better. The beds were very comfortable, the decor of the house was great, and the location was close enough to stores so that we didn't have to worry about finding food, while being away from the main parts of the city. As for the weather...well, it was Hawaii, so it was perfect. We were there during the January 2023 eruption of Kilauea -- Mother Nature really helped us out there as well. All in all, it was the perfect vacation for me and my family visiting from Europe. Thanks for everything, Carol!
