Everything was as described. We had a great time. However, the neighbor across the street feeds the chickens, so there is a large population in this neighborhood and the roosters start crowing in the early morning hours. We eventually got used to the noise!
Our host, and overall experience.
Cute cottage, good options for cooking or eating away at a restaurant. Within walking distance to groceries, coffee and restaurants. Nearby beach with beach gear provided. Responsive site managers too. Outdoor shower and tub made the stay more convenient with two couples.
Place was awesome, in a quiet area and the place was very clean!
Fantastic location and a beautiful place to stay.
Incredibly clean, beautiful view, gorgeous relaxing back yard and outside shower. Would 100% travel across the ocean and visit this exact home again!
Perfect for my wife and I’s 20th anniversary. Perfect location, size, kitchen accessories, communication, quietness, information, everything. It was a magical week.
Clean, had everything we needed and more, great location! Would highly recommend!
Hate to leave negative reviews but I highly recommend NOT staying at this property of neighborhood in general. We arrived and right away the neighborhood felt “dirty/ghetto.” There was fumigation tent across the street, cops swarming around & homeless camps directly across the street just staring while unloading our things from the car. The “front door” was a piece of plywood that was hung disproportionate so it also didn’t feel that safe. My husband didn’t even feel comfortable walking across the street to the store leaving me alone there. We went around to nearby businesses and they confirmed this area was extremely undesirable & known for homeless right at beach access point. Could be a cute place to stay, but location was terrible. We were on our honeymoon & immediately packed back up & went and found somewhere else to stay leaving us thousands of dollars short due to not being refunded. Again, sorry to leave a horrible review but I would not recommend this spot to anyone as it costs a lot of money to take a trip to Kauai & you want to enjoy it - not be nervous in the place you’re staying. The host told us what we were saying was “not true” regardless of me having pictures of everything & no refunds or accommodations were given.
Perfect beach cottage, located in a charming town. Many walkable dining choices from morning til night... JoJo’s Shave Ice is not to be missed. Breathtaking beaches and canyon hikes within a short drive.
This house was perfect!! Loved the quick access to Waimea Canyon State park and most other locations are only a short car ride away!
House was great, very clean with everything you would need. The location was not my favorite with us driving to the north side most days for the lush green, but overall comfortable clean place to stay.
From the beach cottage it was an easy walk to local eateries, the market, the beach, the pier, the library, and horseback riding stables. The cottage itself has been so nicely updated. We especially enjoyed the beautiful kitchen and the private outdoor shower. The neighborhood roosters, chickens and cats all welcomed us. Totally charming place!
A/C was a luxury here since it was really hot and humid. The water pressure was really low in the shower and one lay the hand held shower head worked but other than that everything was great.
I had a fantastic stay at this Waimea rental! The property was spotlessly clean, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere from the moment I arrived. It was well-equipped for all living needs, with everything from kitchen essentials to cozy bedding, making it feel like a true home away from home. The location is absolutely perfect, nestled in a vibrant area with easy access to numerous local attractions—from charming shops to scenic spots, everything was just a short walk or drive away. One delightful bonus was the trees dropping flowers around the property, perfect for crafting leis, which added a special touch to the experience.Check-in and check-out were a breeze, with clear instructions and a seamless process that made settling in and leaving stress-free. For a stay in May, the pricing felt very fair, offering great value for such a well-maintained and conveniently located rental.Highly recommend this Waimea gem for anyone looking for a clean, well-equipped, and ideally situated vacation spot!
When we booked this stay we knew it was close to a beach and in a a more historic town in Kauai, but it exceeded our expectations. It was great for our toddler and the backyard and outdoor shower were big hits. Steps from the beach, pier, food and a market. The home was clean and had everything we needed with easy check in and out. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kauai. Mahalo!
I re read reviews and no one mentions the location so I’ll start there. Waimea is a cute, rural Hawaiian town. It’s very touristy and local at the same time. It’s not what you’d expect when envisioning your Hawaiian getaway but it was nice to see real Hawaii. That being said, the beach that is steps away had several homeless people there, and less than a football fields away from the place is where they likely slept. The beach is disgusting and given it’s so close to the riverbed completely dirty. Good for fishing but not to enter the water or watch the sunset or anything like that. Fortunately there are several beaches close by.The place itself is nice, and if you are there to get out and see Hawaii it’s a good place to stay. The outside shower was a nice bonus, and the accommodations were perfect in the unit. Beds were comfy too. We were delayed by two hours to check in but the lady cleaning was super nice and had a lot of recommendations. I think the delay was because there was a group there for a long time before our two days.
Can’t say enough wonderful things about this place! It was a dream for our honeymoon. The outdoor shower/tub, plus the ample private backyard space really made it. Comes stocked with beach gear and comfy beds. Thank you!
The house was great! Loved the proximity to the beach and central Waimea. The kitchen had everything needed. Beds were comfy, onsite laundry is really helpful and the a/c was great. Having extras like a day trip cooler and ice pack in the freezer really came in handy. A couple of recommendations. A couple of extra blankets in the house would be helpful. One of the beach chairs was quite damaged when we opened it up. Overall we had a great experience! Thank you!
Our stay in this cottage was quite delightful. It was very clean when we arrived and very well stocked with everything we needed - right down to brand new beach chairs that arrived while we were there. The bakyard patio and yard were delightful. Highly recommend this place for a great stay.
This a great place in Downtown Waimea. If you are planning and doing a few activities on the west side. Waimea Canyon, Kokee S.P. etc. Napoli Coast Boating, Salt Ponds, etc. This is the best location. Walking distance to anything you need and fantastic sunsets on the beach or pier. Also very little tourists. Very Chill. You cannot swim on the beach! Rip curl and Sharks. Just don't. Locals were all very friendly.
This house was perfect for us. The house is clean & inviting. The kitchen is stocked well. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. The enclosed back yard was ideal for a night under the stars & the outdoor tub, shower was just an added perk. The close proximity to the wranglers steakhouse, beach, pier and being able to watch the sunset just steps away from the house was amazing. We will be back.
the property was just as advertised! so comfortable. and so nice to have a backyard to hang out in. the outdoor tub and shower were a dream!!! the beach next to the pier wasn’t really the best for walking, i’d suggest driving a few mins down the road to other beaches
Our stay at Waimea Beach cottage was very nice. The hosts provided a helpful book with information, essentials (tp, soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, sheets) they also provided some beach items (towels, chairs, boogie boards). The kitchen had what we needed to make meals. The outdoor shower was very convenient especially for beach days. The backyard was very spacious and had a cozy covered sitting area. We had various wildlife around the cottage: roosters, chickens, cats, pigs. We were woken up at various times at night and early morning to the sound of roosters sounding off throughout the neighborhood. The grocery store is only a block away, that was a plus. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Waimea Beach Cottage.Thank you for having us!Mahalo!
Loved this place! This is what you think of when you say beach cottage. Really comfortable furnishings and tastefully updated. Came with everything we needed like a cooler, beach chairs, etc. the outdoor space was private and serene. The grill and outdoor shower making it even better. Steps to black sand walkable beach and pier. We had zero issues with unhoused people or the restaurant next door. As some people mention in reviews. We felt safe and relaxed and would love to stay here again.
What an incredible little VRBO! such an amazing location to cute little Waimea town with shops (including one where you can pick your coconut to drink out of!), Thai food, tacos, and more! the property itself is so nice, you may never want to leave! The backyard is big and beautiful, with an amazing outdoor shower and tub, patio area, and games. there was beach gear of every kind, and everything you need in the kitchen (including coffee!). they had bug spray, hand sanitizer - and what was really awesome for us - HIKING POLES! This saved our life when hiking up in Waimea, which is just 25 minutes away on an easy paved road.wish we could’ve stayed longer- would love to come back on another trip to Kauai!!
Cute cottage, great backyard
This little cottage was perfect for my friend and I to take a girls trip to Kauai. We both love to hike and to explore the outdoors, so the location was perfect. The beach was right across the street, so we sat on the beach with our wine and the beach chairs provided. I would definitely stay here again.
Loved this cottage. Enjoyed the outdoor shower the most along with on site laundry.
The house was perfect, the beds were great. The major highlight for us was the outside oasis. The yard was so peaceful and the outside shower was glorious. However the biggest joy was the beach for sunset. We made sure to enjoy sunset every night we stayed. Thank you for having us!
My friends and I loved this house. The house provided us with a clean and comfortable place to stay after our adventures on island. The house was located near a grocery store, cafes, shops, and restaurants. We wanted to stay away from the resorts and this was just what we were looking for. The backyard was out of this world. Also be prepared to meet some of the neighborhood cats and chickens, all of which are very friendly.
Everything was amazing, house was so clean and so nice. So close to the beach that has some of the most beautiful sunsets. Totally recommend. We would stay here again in a heart beat. Walking distance to tons of great food too.
The property checked almost all of our boxes. The kitchen was very clean, the living room was cozy, and the backyard was a perfect get away. You can hear the ocean from the front porch and backyard to offer that peaceful relaxation. A few things didn't work but there was plenty of labels to help address most the issues. Overall I would definitely not hesitate to stay there for future visits.
The house was perfect for us Comfortable beds, nice yard, close to beach , restaurants and groceries
We loved the location of the home and the look of the home! My sister loved the outdoor shower! The backyard was amazing and we loved that there was a barbecue there for guest use! We also loved the clothes drying line provided as well!
Fun place would stay again
This beach cottage has been updated nicely, has the feel of “grandmas farm house”, and has a great backyard BBQ area. However, the cottage is not secure, with old windows, a kitchen screen type door with slide locks (think bathroom stall) that are hard to open, and a handle lock on the other outer door. It is not in a great location or neighborhood with homeless and encampments on the beach about 40 yards from the property and a loud restaurant located adjacent to the backyard.
Gorgeous property, with an easily accessible beach. You have all the amenities you could ask for as well as plenty of local places to eat. Not a far drive to Waimea Canyon either
Relaxing stay!
We've just had a two night stay in the beach cottage and it was fantastic! Quiet close to the beach, Wranglers Steakhouse and Jo Jo's Shave Ice! Cottage was great - clean, tidy and had everything we needed for our stay! It was a home away from home! We'll be back!
Easy access to sparsely populated beautiful beaches, easy access to Waimea Canyon and just a breathtaking drive away from the hustle and bustle of the east side of the island. Perfect. Wouldn’t change a thing.
This property was gorgeous! The huge yard with the outdoor shower was amazing. We ended up loving the front porch - we would listen to the waves, eat breakfast, and look at all the geckos on the plumeria. We had everything we needed in the home and it was so convenient to have a grocery store right on the corner of the street. It was quiet, peaceful, and exactly what we were hoping the place would be. I felt the clean up expectations were a little much, but the place was impeccably clean, so maybe that contributes. Overall, I would come back in a heart beat!
We were pleasantly surprised by the ocean view and pretty, spacious backyard. The cottage was very comfortable and nicely renovated. It did give us an authentic, local experience - different from the resort areas. We felt safe but the neighborhood was a bit rough. The extras at the house were much aporeciated - beach towels and chairs, cooler, umbrellas, and boogie boards. Thank you!
Clean. One house between us and the beach. Good air-conditioning and comfortable bed and linens. Walking distance from grocery store, tacos, Boba Tea, it was great!
There isn't a ton to do around here and it was raining but the property itself is clean and cozy and if you were able to go hike it would be an awesome location to stay. It was too rainy for us to do much of anything but the property was great!
The property had everything you could imagine and more—beach equipment, umbrellas, hiking gear, gorgeous backyard! It made my family’s stay effortless and enjoyable, highly recommend!
Very nice, neat and well equipped cottage in Waimea. Better than we expected, very comfortable and well equipped. Great weekend away!
Nice, comfortable and private back yard. Nice location.
Second time here. We enjoy hiking. Very close to state parks. Near town
Loved the outdoor shower, great backyard, and closeness to the beach.
This place was the most comfortable we stayed at while in Kauai. The neighborhood was walkable and had everything you would need. There was a grocery store less than a block away that was fairly affordable. A couple blocks down the road was the best shaved ice spot and next door to that was a cute gift shop with reasonable prices and there were several restaurants to choose from. The cottage itself was wonderful, with stylish decor, comfortable beds, and a great backyard to hang out in. The outdoor shower and bath were fun and made it easy to keep the sand outside of the home. Also this location made for a great starting point to explore Waimea and was relatively short drive from Poipu…10/10 stars.
This little beach cottage was perfect for our group of 4. The location is awesome, within walking distance to everything we could need. We loved it! The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the outside area was amazing. Relaxing, private, and comfortable.
Property was cute, very clean with nice well-groomed backyard. Very close to a beach which is not crowded at all. It’s not a swimming beach, but still nice to visit and walk on. Outdoor shower was a surprise plus. Not a far drive from the rest of the South, West and East Island. Restaurant next door can be noisy on weekends (there was some kind of outdoor nighttime party with loud music happening when we arrived which put us off) but the rest of the week it was lovely and peaceful. Very convenient walk to grocery store, a cute shaved ice store, etc. Would definitely stay here again.
Overall a great location especially for visting waimea canyon. Food in tje are was also good. Only minor complaint was no one could get the overhead showerhead to turn on. Other than that loved it.
Nice spot from which to enjoy the west end sights, including Waimea Canyon and beautiful beaches.
We loved being so close to a nice black sand beach - just down the road!!! Beautiful sunsets every evening. We loved the backyard sitting area - we used it every evening. Lovely cottage enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk to some restaurants and shops!! We highly recommend it!!
We loved our time at the cottage. Listing was accurate and included all amenities expected. Coffee was a great touch! Be aware that the location is very close to an active area of town with a busy restaurant right on the corner. It was never an issue but there was a lot more night time activity around the cottage than we had expected. Overall an excellent stay! Great proximity to Waimea canyon hiking and the small boat harbor for Na Pali boat tours.
Would come back to it in the future. House had everything we needed. Great location near beach. Shower and outside bath under the stars incredible
it's well equipped and everything is clean and well-kept. Bed and sofa are comfortable.
Really quaint, fresh decor and paint, easy to follow instructions, located in local Waimea neighborhood--feel like a local. Would stay again!
